Role

MELD is a community based substance use agency providing recovery services in Midlothian and East Lothian.

Are you looking for a satisfying role in a recovery focussed organisation which offers a competitive Salary Structure, benefits, and an Incremental Scale? Do you want to work in a positive working environment and be part of a dynamic and vibrant team? MELD offers a whole range of benefits including professional supervision, development and training and a generous annual leave entitlement, along with essential car user and mileage allowances.

MELD is looking for highly motivated individuals to join our peer support team. We are recruiting people who are committed to providing services for individuals with substance use issues, who can work effectively as part of a dynamic team and in close partnership with statutory services.

The role of the East Lothian GP Peer Support Worker is to provide and promote peer support and recovery services to people moving on from the problematic use of alcohol or drugs. This will be achieved by supporting people in the different phases of their recovery from initial engagement with services and the recovery community through to options for education, training, volunteering and employment. The successful candidate will have a lived experience of recovery and support services and have a minimum of one year free from any problematic substance/alcohol use. A relevant SVQ (level 1 or above) is a requirement and experience of supporting this client group is essential. Further and ongoing training will be given.
