About Options Ayrshire
Our Service is a busy respite care unit for children and young people with additional support needs, including complex learning and physical disabilities. As well as providing short residential breaks the service offers outreach to families and is also involved in the managing and running of an after school club as well as a busy Easter and Summer play scheme.
Based in a quiet, residential street in Prestwick, our disability support service offers a safe, homely environment for a child to come and stay for a short break that gives their families a rest from their caring role. During that break, children enjoy a range of fun activities and experiences with our staff who specialise in taking care of children with disabilities. Our service is very much a ‘home from home’ for the children who stay with us there.
What we are looking for...
As a Young People’s Worker you will play a fundamental role in ensuring that the young people you work with have the best possible experience in working towards their objectives, in line with their care plan, supporting children to progress within their individual outcomes. Whilst not without its challenges and demands, this is a highly rewarding role, where the work we do has a demonstrable impact on each young person's progress. Using a person-centred approach, you will provide enabling support ensuring the highest level of physical, personal and emotional care. We support young people who have Epilepsy, need personal care and need gastrostomy feeding. Aberlour, in conjunction with NHS, provide all staff with training.
If you have an interest in working with young people, we would like to hear from you. We are looking for a Young People’s Worker to work part time (21 hours per week). These hours will be worked as part of a rolling rota. They will be worked evenings, mornings, weekends and public holidays. You may be expected to work the occasional night shift or sleepover.
Ideally, candidates will have social care experience, an understanding of autism, complex needs and disability. You will hold, or be willing to work towards, a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above (for example: SVQ 3 in Care plus an HNC) together with relevant experience of working with children or young people. You must also be able to demonstrate awareness of the key elements of working with people affected by disability as well as an understanding of, and commitment to, young people’s rights.

About Options Fife Lochwood Park
Aberlour Options Fife - Lochwood Park service, based in Kingseat, is a forever home for one young man who has complex needs. Our service is a safe space for not only our young man but for his family to spend meaningful time. Although there can be behaviours that challenge, it is the small steps of progress that this young person makes daily that makes our work meaningful. We are looking for someone to join our small team, who is a patient and understanding person. These are key skills for this role.
What we are looking for....
As someone who has built up experience working in residential childcare, you will have the confidence to guide and direct the provision of care for our young person.
When on shift, you will play a lead role, mentoring and supporting staff and being a role model, delivering excellence in the services we provide. You will assist in assessing, planning and delivering services, taking responsibility for ensuring that assessment and interventions are prepared, monitored and evaluated.
Engaging positively with our Young Person and their family you will plan and implement appropriate suppor. Sensitive and accurate reporting is a key responsibility and so you will have good written communication skills and the ability to learn how to use effectively, Aberlour’s recording system: Dynamics.
This role offers the opportunity to consolidate and build on your experience combined with the ability to enhance your skills and knowledge through training, for example, in Dyadic Developmental Practice.
As part of the management team you will play an active role in ensuring that shift duties are delegated and completed in accordance with service guidance. You will work 2 x 7.5 hour shifts per week as part of a Residential Rota.
Overnight sleep ins are part of the role, alongside an awake member of night staff.

We currently have a vacancy for a Project Worker 2 post within our Barnardo's Together for Positive Change – Midlothian Intensive Family Support service (BTFPC). BTFPC was established in July 2020 using the intensive family support model which was piloted across Scotland to tackle intergenerational poverty. The focus was to identify and remove barriers to training and work and promote attainment in those families deemed at most risk. BTFPC is a collaborative partnership with Midlothian with key stakeholders being the Early Intervention and Prevention Service and Community Lifelong Learning.
BTFPC aims to address the identified needs of families with children living in Midlothian, who face multiple barriers/challenges to moving out of poverty and provide an offer of holistic whole family support. Many of the children that are referred in through Team Around the Child and or school and will be facing challenges within schools and will already have diagnosed neurodiversity or are awaiting diagnosis.
Support is designed with families to achieve agreed goals following assessment and is time limited to ensure support is effective and families are empowered to maintain changes when support ends. Interventions include parenting sessions, whole family sessions, 1:1 sessions and group work.

Our services are based in a trauma informed, relational and rights-based approach and are designed to empower children and young people to be their authentic selves.
We are seeking a project worker for our B-Empowered project which is a collaboration between our service and our colleagues from Barnardo's Works, which is a specialist employability service. The project was created to support young people aged 16-19 with additional support needs who might otherwise not successfully access existing employability supports to make employment a realistic goal. The successful applicant will work mainly in B-Empowered with some time in one of our other services supporting children, young people and families
The successful applicant will have experience of designed and delivering support to children, young people and families and will be comfortable working in a collaborative environment. The post holder will have a strong understanding of neurodiversity and how to support individuals in a neuro-affirming way, reflecting the social model of disability
This vacancy will cover an existing part-time vacancy and an increase to our overall service capacity following agreement with our commissioner.
The post holder will be able to work successfully with young people individually and in facilitating evidence-based group work programs. Our project workers support young people to identify their goals and to co-design and deliver bespoke packages of support which reflect their specific needs.
