We have an exciting opportunity to join our team. You will be predominantly based in either our community office or within HMP Edinburgh, with an element of outreach across the city. As a recovery trainee you will be supported to learn about supporting service users with their recovery and will undertake an SVQ 2 in Health and Social Care, paid for by us.

Responsibilities:

  • Support service users to engage in meaningful recovery-focused activity, provide harm reduction and recovery focussed interventions as required for service users presenting with a range of drug and alcohol and offending problems in both a community and prison settings.
  • Support to provide an arrest referral service ensuring a seamless link between police/prison custody suites, prison and the community.
  • Provide assessment for substance misuse support within a prison setting.
  • Support to provide continuity of support and through care to prisoners on liberation from prison and facilitate reintegration into local community.
  • Work in partnership with a wide variety of providers including NHS Addiction Services, Criminal Justice Social Work and other local providers to ensure appropriate referrals, clear pathways and a complete support package and continuity of care for all service users in both a community and prison setting.
  • Support to provide Assertive Outreach to service user’s locale, homes when appropriate and support to appointments to ensure social inclusion and maximise engagement.
