We are looking for a Communications Officer to support our team in Scotland to respond to Scottish media enquiries, delivering campaigns to influence health policy and support our fundraising and engagement comms activity.

Reporting to the PR Manager, the role will help deliver key media campaigns that call for change to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Working as a team to deliver a proactive, effective and 24/7 press office, building relationships with identified media and opinion formers, and ensure timely media responses based on organisational and reputational priorities.
• Working with the Campaigns and Public Affairs team to deliver influencing activity to key health board stakeholders, Stroke Association campaigners and the general public.
• Working with the Stories team to identify and deploy the real stories of the stroke survivors we work for.

You will have experience of:

• Generating media coverage in Scotland, ideally in the charity sector.
• Using media to deliver calls to action to the public (eg donating, fundraising, campaigning) and/or decision makers (eg policy change).
• Planning, executing and monitoring media plans against identified briefs and overarching objectives.
• Working alongside Policy and Public Affairs colleagues.
• Creating, posting, and managing social media content.
• Reputation management and working with crisis communications teams.
• Working with colleagues from across an organisation to identify media volunteers (case studies) and developing stories to deliver media coverage.

This role requires occasional travel across the UK to attend team days, conferences and researcher events. Candidates must be able to meet this requirement of the role.

The Role

As Volunteer Training Officer, you will be responsible for for the delivery and/or assessment of all Association first aid and related courses for volunteers, as well as for developing and maintaining volunteer training infrastructure within the organisation.

Reporting to the Volunteer Development Manager, your main responsibilities will include:

• To deliver training courses and conduct assessments to a consistent and fair standard in accordance with St Andrew’s First Aid requirements.
• To maintain current competence and continuous personal development, in accordance with the St Andrew’s First Aid National Headquarters Training Department requirements.
• To act as a point of contact for first aid advice.
• To assist in the planning, coordination and delivery of activities and training involving volunteers
• Promote positive and productive working relationships between volunteers, staff and other stakeholders
• To develop and maintain volunteer training infrastructure including volunteer trainer/assessor recruitment and development

Requirements

The individual will have experience in the planning, co-ordination, delivery and

assessment of large volumes of first aid courses. The person should also be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.

This role would best suit an individual with a passion for and experience of volunteering or working in the third sector, or any other relevant experience.

The ideal person will be very people-orientated, pro-active and flexible. You’ll be outgoing, friendly with good communication skills and be able to fit in wherever the job takes you.

The ALLIANCE is excited to be recruiting a Senior Development Officer – Integration.

The Senior Development Officer role will work to deliver the strategic aims of the ALLIANCE. This includes an emphasis on the voice of lived experience, person-centredness and human rights. The ALLIANCE will be working with an increased focus on Health and Social Care Integration, the National Care Service, human rights incorporation and SNAP 2, and the National Performance Framework. The post holder will:

• Enhance the capacity of different stakeholders to engage with and contribute to health and social care integration with a focus on third sector and people with lived experience of accessing health and social care.
• Facilitate connections across the third sector.
• Enhance opportunities for peer learning, reflective practice and outcomes focused activity across the third sector and for the involvement of people with lived experience in shaping integrated health and social care in Scotland.

The successful candidate for this role should have:

• Educated to degree level or equivalent through experience
• Experience of relationship building and partnership working
• Excellent communication skills including report writing and delivering presentations
• Good leadership and organisational skills
• IT skills in word processing, email, internet, databases and presentations
• Experience of carrying out social research and consultation
• Experience of organising and facilitating workshops, groups and events
• Excellent networking, relationship building and information management skills
