The Newark Trust is a grant-making charity, based in, and supporting, the communities of Inverclyde and we are looking for new Trustees to join our existing Board.
Our key focus areas, in order of priority, are:
1. Fighting Child Poverty
2. Assisting Children and Young People
3. Community Support
Our vision is to improve the lives, health and welfare of the people in Inverclyde, creating opportunities for a positive future.
Our Trustees play a vital role in making sure that The Newark Trust achieves its core purpose. They steer the direction of the charity and ensure that The Newark Trust has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision.
Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to enable The Newark Trust to grow and thrive. The Newark Trust employs a Charity Manager to administer the charity and to build relationships with local charities and organisations. We also have support from the W.S. Society regarding governance and charity law.
The Newark Trust is looking for candidates who are passionate about Inverclyde and are willing to give their time and expertise to develop the charity. In return, you will get a rewarding opportunity where you can engage in meaningful discussions and contribute to the lives of those in need within the local community.
We want to hear from candidates from all walks of life, irrespective of level of work experience, personal circumstances or characteristics.
We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board.
Experience of being a Trustee or working with a charity would be useful, but not essential if there is a clear passion for what The Newark Trust has set out to achieve - we will provide a full induction and training.
We’d welcome applications from individuals with a broad mix of skills and experience, including but not limited to one of the following areas:
