Role

Glasgow South West Foodbank operates 5 distribution centres from our central warehouse in Elderpark Workspace. We need a part time Foodbank Operations Coordinator to ensure the smooth running of the distribution centres, manage the volunteers and assist the clients to access all the support available through our Pathfinder partners.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible to: Development Manager

Responsible for: Managing the day to day operation of Glasgow South West Foodbank centres

Part-time: 25 Hours

Salary: £12.50 hourly rate / £16,250 annual (paid monthly in arrears)

Enrollment into NEST pension with 3% employers’ contribution

Overall responsibility of the job: To lead teams of volunteers to ensure that all areas of the foodbank centres are run efficiently and to a high standard, in accordance with The Trussell Trust model and statutory requirements.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Provide the Development Manager with regular reports on the activity of the centres and bring any issues and concerns to their attention
  • Ensure that all foodbank centre processes and procedures are followed as per the Trussel Trust Foodbank Operating Manual.
  • Work with the teams of volunteers at each session to ensure that the sessions are fully covered and highlight any shortages
  • Recruit, train and support new volunteers to undertake responsibilities and to meet legal requirements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with our Pathfinder partners and signpost clients to the relevant partner to assist with their needs
  • Deal appropriately with any incidents, unforeseen events or other issues
  • Ensure that the foodbank centre is a safe space for all clients and volunteers, that safeguarding procedures are understood and implemented, and client confidentiality respected
  • Monitor health and safety at the foodbank centres and maintain records of accidents and near misses
  • Monitor stock levels at the foodbank centres and liaise with the Warehouse Coordinator to request resupply of food and other provisions as required.
  • Ensure all completed vouchers are handled discretely, stored securely and passed on regularly to the Administrator / volunteer team for entering onto the data collection system
  • Communicate with referral agencies in response to queries of issues arising from the vouchers presented by clients at the foodbank centre

Experience

  • Planning and organising people and tasks
  • Leading and working as part of a team
  • Handle difficult situations, including conflict and aggression

Key Skills:

  • Good oral communication
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised
  • Empathy and ability to work with people from disadvantaged, marginalised, or socially excluded backgrounds
  • Driver with clean driving licence preferred
