We’re hiring a Sexual Violence Trauma Support Worker
The Women’s Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (WRASAC) Dundee and Angus has been supporting survivors of rape, sexual abuse and exploitation since 1984. We provide a range of specialist services to survivors across Dundee and Angus and are committed to ensuring that women who have experienced sexual violence receive the support they need, when they need it.
To support the continued development of our Trauma Support Service Team (formerly known as the Women’s Support Service), we are looking to recruit a Sexual Violence Trauma Support Worker (25 hours per week).
The successful candidate will provide holistic, trauma-informed support to survivors of rape, sexual abuse and exploitation. The role includes providing one-to-one support, advocacy, group work, introductory meetings and support through our helpline and other communication channels. The postholder will work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure survivors receive the support they need and will contribute to awareness raising, service development, monitoring and evaluation activities.
The ideal candidate will have experience of providing trauma-informed support using counselling-type skills, a sound understanding of the impact of rape and sexual abuse on survivors, and a commitment to a feminist analysis of gender-based violence. They will be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively with survivors, colleagues and partner agencies.
