Role

As a specialist addiction recovery charity, we have developed considerable expertise in the provision of residential and housing services to support people at all stages of their recovery journey.

As the Cook & Nutrition Lead, you will play a vital role in supporting residents' health, wellbeing and recovery through the provision of nutritious, balanced meals and a positive dining experience. You will lead all aspects of meal planning, food preparation, stock control and kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of nutrition, food safety and hygiene are maintained at all times.

The role extends beyond catering. As a key member of the residential team, you will support residents to develop practical cooking skills, improve their understanding of healthy eating and build confidence in independent living. Through positive engagement, you will contribute to the therapeutic and recovery-focused environment that underpins our Residential Service.

About You

Your experience and qualities should include:

  • Experience of working in a catering, hospitality, cooking or food preparation role.
  • Knowledge of nutrition, healthy eating and menu planning.
  • Understanding of food hygiene, HACCP requirements and health and safety standards within a professional kitchen environment.

  • Commitment to supporting residents to develop cooking skills, nutritional awareness and independent living skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, colleagues and external suppliers.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality services and maintaining consistently high standards.
  • An interest in working within the voluntary sector and supporting people affected by substance use and related challenges.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • A desire to continually improve the quality of the dining experience and nutritional outcomes for residents.
  • A commitment to actively demonstrating the values and beliefs of Phoenix Futures.
