Dundee Law Centre is a charitable organisation tackling poverty and preventing homelessness by providing free, accessible, quality legal advice and representation. We are a bespoke service and no other organisation in Dundee offers the same framework of legal support and representation. We assist with disability-related and welfare benefits from application through to appeal, help clients manage debt, and do all we can to help people maintain their tenancies when threatened with homelessness or eviction.
Our clients are vulnerable in a wide range of ways: people living with mental health conditions and disabilities (physical, intellectual, or both), people living below the poverty line, and people requiring rehousing after fleeing domestic violence, coping with medical issues, or experiencing anti-social behaviour. We hold appointments at our Albert Street office and make house calls for clients with mobility issues or who are housebound. We are currently the only service in Dundee providing legal representation at benefit tribunals, and we work closely with other third-sector organisations to refer clients to food banks, cash-for-kids schemes, home starter packs and furniture.
