Role

At ILF Scotland, our purpose is simple but powerful: to support disabled people to live independently. Through the Independent Living Fund, Transition Fund, Technology Grant and recently launched Coming Home Fund, we help thousands of people across Scotland and Northern Ireland achieve greater choice, control and dignity in their lives. We currently manage funding of approximately £100m per annum, supporting around 7,000 recipients, with funding expected to increase to approximately £120m in the next financial year.

As our long-serving Director of Finance prepares to retire, we are seeking an exceptional finance leader to join ILF Scotland at a pivotal point in its journey. This is a rare opportunity to join a highly respected, award-winning organisation during a period of significant growth and increasing reach.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will provide strategic financial leadership, governance and assurance across ILF Scotland. As a trusted adviser to the Board, Executive Team and Government stakeholders, you will help secure the organisation's long-term financial sustainability, ensuring the effective stewardship of public funds and the highest standards of accountability, governance and value for money.

Operating within a complex and highly regulated environment, you will provide insight, assurance and constructive challenge on key strategic and financial matters, while driving innovation, continuous improvement and organisational performance. Above all, you will play a key role in enabling ILF Scotland to continue delivering life-changing outcomes for disabled people across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

As a professionally qualified accountant (CA, CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent), you will bring significant senior finance leadership experience gained within a complex and highly regulated environment. You will have a strong track record in financial strategy, governance, organisational performance and the stewardship of substantial budgets, alongside a sound understanding of the public sector and/or social care landscape. An effective communicator and relationship builder, you will be comfortable operating at Board level, providing trusted advice and constructive challenge to senior stakeholders. Alongside your technical expertise and leadership capability, you will demonstrate a genuine commitment to public service, inclusion and delivering positive social impact.

This is a unique opportunity to combine strategic leadership with meaningful social impact, helping to shape the future of a highly respected organisation that makes a real difference to the lives of disabled people every day.

ILF Scotland embraces flexible and hybrid working. The successful candidate will not be required to be based in Livingston on a full-time basis and we are open to a range of flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working, compressed hours and other patterns that can support both individual and organisational needs.
