Role

LHM is a Glasgow-based charity supporting people affected by homelessness, poverty, social exclusion and a wide range of complex life circumstances. Founded in 1909, LHM has a long history of providing compassionate, high-quality support.

At the heart of our work is a welcoming and inclusive community where everyone is treated with dignity, respect and kindness. We are looking for a compassionate, confident and enthusiastic Client Support Worker to join our Day Centre team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working alongside people, building meaningful relationships and helping clients access the support, experiences and opportunities that matter to them.

About the Role

As a Client Support Worker, you will be part of our frontline team, helping to create a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for everyone who comes through our doors. The role will include:

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with clients.
  • Providing practical and emotional support.
  • Recognising individual needs and helping clients access appropriate services and specialist support.
  • Supporting clients with issues relating to housing, health, wellbeing, benefits and other areas affecting their lives.
  • Encouraging clients to participate, build confidence, develop skills and try new experiences.
  • Responding appropriately to challenging situations while maintaining dignity, compassion and professional boundaries.
  • Maintaining accurate and appropriate records.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and external partners.
  • Supporting clients to take part in activities and other opportunities where appropriate, particularly where these support client engagement, relationship-building, wellbeing and social connection.

This is a varied and rewarding role. No two days will be exactly the same, and the successful candidate will need to be approachable, adaptable and comfortable working within a busy Day Centre environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of supporting people affected by homelessness, poverty and social exclusion, including people experiencing poor mental health and other complex challenges.
  • Can communicate confidently and sensitively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Understands safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Can remain calm and make sound decisions in challenging situations.
  • Is compassionate and non-judgemental while also able to maintain clear and consistent boundaries.
  • Enjoys working as part of a team and is willing to contribute across different areas of our work.
  • Can work independently, use initiative and recognise when guidance or additional support is required.
  • Holds a relevant social care qualification at SCQF Level 6 or above, or an equivalent qualification.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory PVG Scheme check.

What We Offer

  • A permanent, full-time position.
  • A competitive salary of £28,000.
  • Generous holiday entitlement.
  • Employer pension contributions.
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • The opportunity to help shape and develop an evolving frontline service.
  • The chance to make a genuine difference within a trusted and welcoming community.

Why This Role Matters

This role is about much more than providing practical support. It is about seeing the whole person, recognising their strengths and creating opportunities for them to feel heard, respected, included and valued.

You will be joining a team committed to working collaboratively, sharing skills and providing consistent support. Your contribution will help us create more opportunities for clients, respond effectively to increasing demand and ensure that LHM remains a place where everyone has a place.
