Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Garvald Edinburgh's experienced Senior Management Team within a caring, creative and sector-leading organisation supporting adults with learning disabilities.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated HR Manager to lead our people and organisational development functions. Working closely with senior managers, you will provide both strategic and operational HR leadership, supporting workforce development, organisational change, employee relations, and the delivery of high-quality services across an organisation employing approximately 170 staff.
You will have a strong understanding of employment law, HR best practice and the practical application of people management strategies within a values-led organisation. We are seeking an individual who can lead and influence a positive organisational culture across multiple services and locations, equip managers to address people challenges confidently and effectively, and develop practical, people-centred approaches that strengthen workforce capability, wellbeing and service quality.
Essential
- CIPD Level 3 qualification or above (or equivalent experience)
- Significant experience in a senior HR management, business partnering or organisational development role.
- Excellent knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience supporting managers with complex employee relations issues.
- Experience leading workforce development, organisational change and policy development.
- Strong leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
Desirable
- Experience in the voluntary, charity, health, social care or other regulated sectors.
- Experience supporting a diverse values driven workforce.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and safer recruitment practices.
- Experience of developing and promoting positive workplace culture, employee engagement and wellbeing programmes.

St Joseph’s Services provides Housing Support / Care at Home services to adults with a Learning Disability living in their own homes.
The HR Co-ordinator will be responsible for overseeing and supporting HR functions across St Joseph’s Services with particular responsibilities in:
- Staff Wellbeing
- Absence Management
- Recruitment – including right to work
- Retention
- Disciplinary / Capability processes
- Policy and Procedure review/ implementation
The HR co-ordinator is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and contributes to the overall strategy and operations of St Joseph’s Services. The HR co-ordinator will uphold St Joseph’s Services Christian Principles and Vincentian Philosophy and Values.
Requirements:

- Excellent organisation and administration skills, including use of Office 365 and CRM/ databases to maintain accurate employee records, support reporting requirements and ensure compliant HR service delivery

Neuroinclusion is rising up the agenda for employers, community organisations, and public sector bodies that want to get it right for their staff and the people they serve. This is a key role in our Business Development team, leading Mindroom’s training and consultancy service, with real scope to build on strong foundations and grow it.
You will design and deliver engaging training online and in person, and provide consultancy on neuroinclusion in the workplace and in designing services for customers and service users. The focus is practical change: what an organisation does differently as a result, rather than awareness raising alone. You will also develop the offer, write proposals, lead corporate engagement, use our CRM to manage the pipeline, and implement monitoring and evaluation so we can show the difference the service makes.
You will bring a strong understanding of neurodivergence, neurodevelopmental conditions, and the neurodiversity movement; substantial experience designing and delivering training; and experience developing or growing a service.
This is a management role in a growing department with a busy and varied workload, so you will be comfortable working independently and shaping the service as it grows.
The role is hybrid, combining home working, attendance at our Edinburgh office and travel to deliver training and consultancy in person. Occasional evening work and overnight stays may be required.
