The Society is looking for a new member of staff to deliver its financial, HR and operational workflows following the retirement of the current Finance Manager. This role provides essential day-to-day support across finance, HR administration and organisational operations, ensuring accurate transaction processing, efficient workflows and reliable coordination across departments.

Job Description

The Finance & Operations Officer is responsible for day-to-day financial processing, HR administration and operational coordination. The role ensures accurate financial records, smooth administrative processes and effective support for staff across the Society. The postholder works closely with the Finance Manager to maintain strong financial controls, support compliance, and contribute to the efficient running of the organisation.

The Finance & Operations Officer liaises with all areas of the Society and helps provide reports and documentation to the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee and Council. They are line managed by the Finance Manager,

About this role

We are looking for an experienced Communications and Marketing Manager to take on this exciting new role at OPFS. You will have the opportunity to lead this growing team as part of the Policy and Communications Department. We are looking for a creative and strategic thinker with a proven track record in developing and implementing communications, branding and marketing strategies. If you are passionate about supporting single parents to thrive and access the support they need through our services, we’d love to hear from you.

In this role, you’ll:

• Develop and implement Children First’s marketing strategy to position us as the national children’s charity, protecting Scotland’s children.
• Oversee marketing campaigns with a focus on brand management, website development and marketing to cover the full marketing mix across multiple media channels.
• Manage and support the marketing team and work closely with other managers to achieve Children First’s strategic objectives.

• Excellent strategic and creative marketing experience.
• Experience delivering successful multi-channel marketing campaigns.
• Experience managing and developing people.
• Strong brand, communications and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A high level of expertise in digital marketing, web content, social media marketing and paid advertising.
• A data-driven approach, using insight and evaluation to improve performance.
• Experience managing budgets, projects and external suppliers.
• A strong drive for excellence, the ability to manage competing priorities and a track record in delivering to tight deadlines.

This includes working as part of multiagency partnerships such as Edinburgh Umbrella Hubs, a collaborative partnership offering early help to children and their families, support for Forces families and transition support through our Space to Grow service.

What we are looking for

You will be an inspiring leader and will possess a degree or diploma in social work, or equivalent professional qualification at SCQF level 9, in addition to recent significant experience in a relevant practice area relating to young people.
