Following career progression within our team, we are delighted to be recruiting for a new Counselling Support Worker. We are seeking a qualified counsellor (to diploma level or higher) to join our therapeutic support team. This role offers 1:1 therapeutic counselling and support to survivors of sexual violence of any gender aged 13 upwards within the Forth Valley area.

We are a holistic service which offers survivors a safe and therapeutic space across their healing journey. We recognise the complexities in recovering from trauma and offer wraparound support from the point of referral through to the end of a survivor’s therapeutic and/or advocacy journey. Providing wrapround support via check-in calls and drop-in support are an integral part of the role of Counselling Support Worker.

We are seeking applications from qualified counsellors who have at least 12 months experience working directly with sexual violence, trauma or crisis intervention. An understanding of the gendered roles of sexual violence and the intersectional factors which can create barriers for survivors to access support is essential.

If so, you can be part of a National Team of Post Diagnostic Support Link Workers (PDS Link Workers) providing high-quality, person-centred support to people living with dementia and their families for a minimum of a year following diagnosis in line the Scottish Government’s minimum guarantee.

The aim of the PDS National Service is to enable people to live well with dementia and is centred around Alzheimer Scotland's 5 pillar model so that people move on to a period of supported self- management.

The model includes understanding the illness and coming to terms with the diagnosis, peer support, connecting and maintaining links with their community along with planning for future care and decision making to develop an outcome focused plan to support their future hopes, desires and aspirations.

Supporting our East Renfrewshire locality, the post will be based within the Community Mental Health Team at Willow Clinic, Eastwood Health & Care Centre. Alzheimer Scotland’s PDS Link Workers are required to be effective team workers and have the skills to build and maintain relationships with colleagues both within Alzheimer Scotland, the NHS and other stakeholders.

Skills in using digital platforms are essential as we use a blended approach to support people that involve some virtual meetings and on-line groups.

Applicants must hold a recognised relevant professional qualification, have a good understanding of dementia and how it affects people and their families along with excellent communication skills, a warm flexible approach, combined with skills in empathy and relationship building.

In addition, you should have skills and knowledge at the Enhanced Level of the Promoting Excellence Framework or be able to evidence you are working towards its completion.

What you’ll do

The Brain Health and Dementia Practice Education Lead will play a key role in enhancing the knowledge, skills and practice of the Alzheimer Scotland workforce. Reporting to the Professional Lead for Brain Health Education and Training, the postholder will support the development and delivery of high-quality learning.

The role will focus on embedding the Promoting Excellence Framework, ensuring staff and volunteers are equipped to deliver high-quality, person-centred, rights-based support. It will lead on practice-based education, qualifications, regulatory training and workforce development across the organisation.

What you’ll have

The successful candidate will be a registered healthcare professional with experience in workforce development and a strong ability to design, develop, and deliver high-quality, engaging training programmes. You will also bring experience of interpreting and delivering third-party training, alongside excellent written skills to create clear, impactful learning content. You will demonstrate a clear ability to lead the implementation of plans to achieve objectives and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

An understanding of the Promoting Excellence Framework is desirable.

You will have excellent digital and IT skills, including a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
