Role
Purpose:
The post is a joint commitment between Aberdeen’s Local Employability Partnership and ACVO Third Sector Interface and is intended to support strengthening employment outcomes for the people of Aberdeen through improving the capacity, scope and contribution of third sector employability provision.
By working collaboratively with the Local Employability Partnership and Aberdeen’s Employability Training Providers Forum, the postholder will engage actively with local and national third sector providers to understand their strengths and challenges, identify opportunities for and support partnership working across sectors. They will support third sector employability providers with organisational development as well as growing involvement from related community organisations to extend reach. They will advocate for the sector strategically on relevant partnership boards and working groups.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic support to the Local Employability Partnership (LEP).
- Provide strategic support to the Aberdeen Employability Training Providers Forum (ETPF).
- Work with the ETPF and the wider third sector to review, map and maintain a record of third sector employability activity, opportunities, challenges and priorities for the area.
- Establish effective working relationships with local and national third sector providers and represent all perspectives fairly.
- Build positive relationships with strategic partners involved in employability and related services in Aberdeen.
- Attend and advocate for the sector on the Aberdeen Local Employability Partnership (LEP) and any other relevant strategic groups as appropriate.
- Support and help inform Aberdeen’s Local Employability Partnership’s (LEP) strategy development including ensuring transparent and accessible commissioning of employability services.
- Work pro-actively with the Local Employability Partnership and the Employability Training Providers Forum to support the sector to explore and develop opportunities for working in partnership including, but not restricted to, Consortium models.
- Work with the LEP and the ETPF to provide input into design and delivery of participation and engagement methods that support those with lived experience to develop a collective voice and co-produce new services in employability.
- Keep up to date with and share information on national employability policy and funding developments as relevant to the sector.
- Work collectively across the ACVO TSI development team and wider third sector collaboratively, respectfully, fairly and honestly; always undertaking to represent the organisation in an appropriate manner and with the integrity expected by ACVO TSI.
- Undertake any other reasonable task required of the post by the line manager.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Experience:
- Experience of working in a third sector employability delivery organisation or service at a senior level
- Experience of project development or management
- Experience of supporting developing partnerships and multi-agency approaches
- Extensive experience of working with Microsoft packages, including word, PowerPoint, excel and Outlook.
- Experience of managing a diverse workload and meeting deadlines
- Experience of facilitating meetings and events.
- Experience of managing multiple complex working relationships and partnerships.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written skills, including the ability to write reports and other content that is accessible to different audiences.
- Excellent spoken communication skills, including the confidence to designing and deliver presentations
- The ability to grow and develop partnership working across a diverse group of interests, including supporting, communication, negotiation, and project development.
- Demonstrable relationship building and networking skills including the ability to influence and motivate others.
- A good understanding of employability policy in Scotland is essential and the issues affecting the sector locally would be preferable.
- Excellent digital skills, with experience of using online digital tools and an ability to embrace new emerging technology.
- The ability to work unsupervised but within a team and a teamwork environment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to take ownership of your work.
- Knowledge of confidentiality requirements, business sensitivity and the management of personal data.

Senior Community Connector (Gambling)

Clackmannanshire Community Planning Partnership seeks to develop and test a holistic programme of support for people experiencing gambling harm within a Whole Family Support context. The need for this programme will be addressed via three interlinked elements: Prevention, Treatment and Harm reduction.
We aim to improve health and life expectancy, promote health and wellbeing, reduce health-harming activities and improve individual’s social connectedness, and enable equitable access to health and wellbeing through a preventative and early intervention approach.
The Senior Community Connector will work across our well-established whole family support system, linking individuals into supports to help reduce harm and access treatment. This additional post will work closely with gambling support partners (i.e. RCA Trust and Fast Forward), the Alcohol and Drugs Partnership, the Health and Social Care Partnership, and have access to our wider partnership network to create a package of holistic wrap-around support for individuals and their families.
This post will involve targeted outreach to engage with key population groups, namely women experiencing gambling harm; those with experience of housing insecurity and homelessness; those with experience of problematic substance use; and young people aged 16-24. This post will work closely with a new Income Maximisation Officer through the Citizens Advice Bureau. The post holder will be expected to develop a strong working relationship with CAB, Clackmannanshire Council’s Revenue and Benefits team as well as wider partners in our Whole Family Support system, to generate awareness and referrals for people at risk of gambling harm.

Fife Voluntary Action is seeking a Head of Employability who will be the strategic lead for the co-ordination and collaboration of third sector employability services, and who will represent the sector strategically. Where the role fits in our organisation
Our Communities and Place team consists of our Community Transport, Employability, Volunteering, Children and Families and Locality teams. The Community Transport team reports to the Head of Communities and Place and works with the other teams to support our sector across a wide range of portfolios.
What You'll Do
We are looking for a colleague who is passionate about the impact and potential of our third sector and who is excited about leading a new project to success. As the lead for our new 4-year funded project CommunityTransportDG, you will be at the forefront of a different way of working in D&G. You will thrive on building strategic partnerships and relationships to achieve outcomes and will have a clear view of the challenges that this region faces and the many ways that community transport could mitigate those challenges. The successful candidate will be the policy lead for Community Transport across Dumfries and Galloway, working with regional and national partners and leading a small team to deliver outcomes that support local, regional and national challenges.
A detailed knowledge of Transport / Community Transport is not needed for this role– it is a leadership and strategic role and a full handover will be given to ensure all technical knowledge is transferred.
This role would suit a Development Officer or similar with experience of working in a leadership role for a third sector organisation and with ambitions to make an even bigger difference to the people of Dumfries and Galloway through a regional role.
The role will be line managed and supported by our Head of Communities and Place, but will have a high degree of autonomy as to how best to deliver the outcomes for our new model, CommunityTransportDG. They will be supported by an 80% Development Officer who will work with the Community Transport Operators to enhance their capacity, as well as by the wider TSDG Comms and Business Support teams. We are advertising for the Development Officer in parallel with this post, so this is an exciting opportunity to join and shape a new regional project in Dumfries and Galloway.
It is principally a 9am – 5pm, weekday role, with very limited evening or weekend working anticipated. A minimum 50% of time would be expected to be in the Dumfries office, with the rest home-working or in the community if preferred. We have a Flexi-time policy that supports this.
