About Us

Toonspeak, based in Glasgow, offers a range of arts opportunities to young people, with a focus on the performing arts as part of our DNA as a young people’s theatre organisation. A unique organisation, we provide young people aged 0-25 from across Glasgow with opportunities to participate in high-quality arts experiences, free of charge.

The Role

Board meetings take place four times per year, in February, May, August and November. Quarterly meetings are held in person, outside of office hours, at one of our Glasgow venues and are two hours in length. There is the option to take part remotely if Board members are unable to attend in person, however travel expenses are supported to allow in person attendance to be possible.

We are looking to recruit four new Board directors in 2026. We are actively recruiting for new Board directors with lived experience in facing barriers to access. We are particularly interested in hearing from people aged 18-25, as well as those with specific expertise in Theatre, Child Protection & Safeguarding, and Strategy & Policy Development.

Fountainbridge Canalside Community Trust (FCCT) is a dynamic local charity and social enterprise working to make Fountainbridge a better place to live, work, do business and visit. We deliver projects that promote inclusion, sustainability, and community wellbeing.

Our work includes community boating activities, greenspace development, volunteering programmes, wellbeing walking groups, the Edinburgh Canal Festival, and a growing programme of community events. We are also preparing to open a new Canalside Community Space and to build a new sustainable trip boat for 2026—an exciting period of growth that this role will help bring us to life.

We are now looking for a motivated and skilled General Manager to lead our small, dedicated and experienced team and help shape the next stage of FCCT’s growth.

About the Role

As FCCT’s most senior staff member, you will provide strategic leadership while staying closely connected to day-to-day operations. This is a hands-on and varied role, ideal for someone who enjoys combining big-picture thinking with practical community-focused delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

Leadership & Strategy

• Provide inspiring and inclusive leadership for staff and volunteers
• Work with the Board to deliver strategic and operational plans
• Oversee impact measurement and reporting, including the Annual Report

Governance

• Act as the key link between the Board and staff
• Support strong governance, including acting as Company Secretary

Finance & Fundraising

• Lead financial planning, budgeting, and reporting
• Drive fundraising, major grant applications, and income generation
• Build strong relationships with funders and partners

Operations & People

• Support and line-manage staff and volunteers
• Oversee social enterprise activities, community programmes, and events
• Lead delivery of flagship initiatives such as the Edinburgh Canal Festival
• Contribute to FCCT’s public profile and digital presence
• Participate in the on-call rota as Designated Person Ashore for boat operations

External Relations

• Act as the public face of FCCT
• Build partnerships with local groups, businesses, and stakeholders
• Champion the value of blue and green spaces and community wellbeing

About You

Essential:

• Strong leadership and management experience in a charity, social enterprise, or community setting
• Proven project management and fundraising skills
• Confident with financial information and decision-making
• Excellent people management skills
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
• Able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery
• Committed to inclusivity, sustainability, and community empowerment

Desirable:

• Experience in community development, volunteering, environmental or heritage projects
• Income generation or social enterprise experience
• Understanding of impact measurement
• Experience supporting volunteers and inclusive participation

The Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD) Board of Trustees is looking for new trustees who can help make Scotland a fairer place where people with learning disabilities live full, safe, loving and equal lives. This is a pivotal and exciting moment for our organisation. As we approach our 25th anniversary, SCLD is proud of its history, its values and its contribution to improving the lives of people with learning disabilities across Scotland.

As a Trustee, you will provide strategic leadership, governance and oversight, working collaboratively with people with lived experience, fellow Board members and the senior leadership team. You will help shape our future direction, support strong organisational performance and champion inclusion and human rights.

The SCLD Board is keen to hear from people who can bring new perspectives and experiences, and who are motivated to help drive positive change. We welcome applications from people of all abilities and backgrounds. We are looking for individuals who bring insight, sound judgement and a commitment to our values. Whether you have prior board experience or are looking to take your first step into governance, your passion for creating positive change and amplifying the voices of people with learning disabilities is what matters most.

We are particularly interested in people who bring experience of advancing human rights and tackling inequalities, alongside leadership in health, social care or learning disability services, and a strong commitment to supporting people with disabilities to live full and meaningful lives. Insight into communications or campaigning, legal or regulatory matters, and experience of senior leadership, strategy and driving meaningful change within purpose-driven organisations would be highly valued.

Please note that SCLD will be running two rounds of recruitment for new Trustees in 2026. The first round will take place in April-May. A second round will take place in September-October.

The Board has overall responsibility for governance and strategic direction of Blue Triangle, and we are seeking individuals who have a real desire and interest in helping deliver our ambitious aims and objectives. We are currently looking for individuals with demonstrable experience in the third sector, in particular Housing and Social Care. Additional expertise in development, with financial and commercial experience, would be very beneficial.

As a voluntary position, it will not be paid but travel and other expenses for attendance at meetings are reimbursed in line with our policy.
