Health in Mind offers a range of counselling services. We are seeking a compassionate and qualified Counsellor who is fluent in British Sign Language (BSL) to join our team in a self-employed capacity. You will provide face-to-face and online one-to-one counselling individuals facing a range of emotional and psychological challenges in our Lothian Deaf Counselling service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver confidential counselling sessions tailored to client needs
• Maintain accurate and timely client records
• Work collaboratively and have good communication with the Counselling Team Leader and Administrator
• Uphold ethical and professional standards in line with BACP guidelines

Requirements:

• Recognised counselling qualification (Diploma or Masters Level)
• Registration with COSCA, NCPS, BACP, UKCP, HCPC or other relevant professional body
• Experience working with diverse client groups, including people who have experiences of trauma
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Scottish Families supports anyone who is concerned about someone else’s alcohol or drug use. We were established in 2003 by families themselves, who came together to support each other and to campaign for recognition. We are a national charity based in Glasgow but working right across Scotland. We provide a range of national and local services, including a national helpline, one to one support, bereavement counselling and local family support services. We also deliver a national workforce development programme; Connecting Families; My Family, My Rights; communications; fundraising; and policy/ campaigning work, as well as our Routes young persons programme, and Grow Your Own Routes national development programme.

We are Scotland’s leading charity supporting families affected by substance use, and are recognised by the Scottish Government as one of their Key Third Sector Partners in the field of alcohol and drugs. We are seeking a number of new Board members in response to recent and upcoming changes in our Board membership. (Board members serve an initial three-year term, which can be extended for a further three years).

You should be available to attend quarterly meetings, which are held in person at our national office in Glasgow city centre (with the option of joining online via MS Teams). Meetings are held on Saturday mornings and the schedule is set well in advance.

About Aberlour’s Family Advice and Community Connection Service

We provide early support and tailored advice to families who may feel they have become stuck or who need information, guidance, signposting, or referrals to other services. This specific post will have a main focus on supporting ethnic minority families with no recourse to public funds, who are facing additional barriers to accessing support.

All families with children under the age of 18 living in Perth and Kinross can contact us directly to access our service. We work alongside families from diverse nationalities and ethnic backgrounds to offer personalised, culturally responsive support on family matters when they need it most, in locations that suit them, while recognising and addressing the specific challenges faced by those with restricted access to public funds.

As part of this team, you will provide a vital, accessible service and lifeline for these families, advocating for their rights and helping them navigate complex systems to access appropriate support.

We are looking for an experienced, adaptable individual who can bring fresh, innovative and flexible approaches to family support. Working 37.5 hours per week, applicants must be flexible in order to deliver support at times that meet the families and communities needs, which may include out of hours (early mornings, evenings and weekends).

You will work alongside statutory and other agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

You are someone who will have strong communication, teamwork, planning and decision making skills, along with a compassionate nature to understand the necessity of best practice and thrive on helping children and families overcome the challenges presented by everyday modern life.

Aberlour Sustain Perth & Kinross is taking forward Aberlour’s ground-breaking ‘Edge of Care’ service. Sustain is a model of early intervention and engagement which offers personalised, flexible, and responsive support to children, young people and their families. The approach seeks to maximise the potential of family strengths and assets, getting them access to the required support when and where they need it, enabling children and young people to remain living at home rather than moving into residential care.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a Community Support Practitioner to join our team, working 37.5 hours per week. As this post includes an unsocial hours allowance, you are required to be flexible with your approach and available to work weekends, early mornings, evenings, and public holidays to meet the needs of the families you would support.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting children, young people, and their families to achieve the best possible outcomes as they live and grow within their communities. Our aim is to ensure that children, young people and families are supported to build on their strengths, assets and interests to develop enduring capacity and resilience.
