The Communications Lead role is a delivery-focused position responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing agreed external communications activity for Plan Vivo. The role supports visibility, clarity, and consistency across channels, and plays a key part in translating agreed priorities into well-managed communications plans, outputs, and campaigns, without owning organisational strategy, advocacy, or public affairs.
Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the UK. This is a hybrid (office/home-based) role with an expectation for regular presence (at least once per month) in our Edinburgh-based office.

This is a Scotland-wide position and is facilitated by ECCAN only for the purposes of this job advert. The successful applicant will be hosted by their local Climate Hub.
Role will be hosted and supported by one of the climate action hubs, who will offer line management, IT, and other support. Arrangements will be shaped around the postholder. The postholder will work with all hubs and the Scottish Government.
Description of the Climate Hubs Scotland
The national network of 24 Climate Hubs across Scotland aims to provide communities with the capacity and confidence to shape and deliver locally relevant climate action that supports Scotland’s transition to a net-zero, climate-resilient future. Hubs operate as locally rooted, flexible, place-based structures that adapt their models and activities to local priorities and contexts. While the scale and structure of delivery may vary, all hubs share the overarching objectives of building local capability and motivation for climate action and supporting communities to develop and implement climate projects.
The climate hubs are run by local third sector organisations. They vary in size and scale, and employ different models of working, including partnership models.
Purpose and outcomes of the role:
To work with the climate action hubs and Scottish Government to develop and take forward collaborative actions across the national Hub network and to achieve the following strategic outcomes:
Oversight:
The Scottish Government and the lead hub will work with the successful candidate to develop a work plan. Priorities and the work plan will be shaped by the wider climate hub network.
The post holder will be required to provide updates to the Scottish Government and the network on a regular basis. The post holder will work closely with all hubs and in particular with staff supporting national priorities.
This new role would suit someone who is naturally very well-organised, able to build strong relationships and garner support, enjoys working with lots of partners, has experience of Scottish politics, and is committed to climate action and justice. Amidst the self-evident climate emergency it is vital that we re-establish the priority of climate action amongst the public, with politicians and decision makers, and win wide support for urgent change and leadership.
You’ll lead on our engagement with stakeholders, MSPs, government officials and party staff and work to build support through sympathetic groups such as unions and the faith community, in order to help to mobilise our supporters and grow the strong public support for action. You’ll be part of the small SCCS secretariat team that provides support to our diverse members and works with them to plan and deliver advocacy and campaigns activities, so you’ll need to be a great communicator, enthusiastic, proactive and willing to be flexible.
With Scottish elections taking place in 2026, this is an important time to be influencing climate policy. This role will play an essential part in helping the Scottish climate movement navigate the new political context, boost our impact and win deeper support for urgency and action.

You’ll drive the Mission Zero Route Map, delivering a multi-year programme of decarbonisation across buildings, infrastructure, and fleet. Responsibilities:
· Lead delivery of the organisation’s Mission Zero Route Map, a multi-year programme of decarbonisation across the National Park Authority’s estate and fleet.
· Plan and implement agreed climate adaptation measures across estate assets, including offices, visitor centres, ranger bases, piers, slipways, car parks and public greenspaces.
· Develop and maintain a robust monitoring and reporting framework for Mission Zero, supporting statutory climate reporting requirements and producing regular performance reports.
· Identify and manage resources, budgets and personnel, including internal teams, consultants, and contractors, to deliver decarbonisation and adaptation projects, using approved procurement processes.
· Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as required.
Who we are looking for:
Your skills, abilities and experience should include:
• Proven experience managing complex programmes or projects, ideally in decarbonisation, renewable energy, low-carbon infrastructure or estate management.
• Experience delivering climate adaptation or sustainability initiatives in a public or private sector environment.
• Track record of budget management, procurement and oversight of contractors or consultants.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
• Strong project and programme management skills, including planning, monitoring and reporting progress against objectives.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to engage staff and board members.
• Ability to analyze technical and operational data to inform decision-making.
• Degree or equivalent professional experience in engineering, environmental sciences, sustainability, or a related discipline.
Ideally, but not essentially, you’ll also have:
• Experience specifically in electrical engineering, renewable energy systems or energy efficiency projects.
• Experience working within or with public sector organisations.
• Familiarity with statutory climate reporting duties.
• Experience with carbon accounting and environmental performance monitoring.
• Knowledge of climate finance, grants, or funding mechanisms for climate-related projects
• Professional membership or accreditation in relevant engineering or sustainability bodies (e.g. Chartered Engineer, CEng; Chartered Environmentalist, CEnv).
• Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
