Homelessness and Prevention

At Turning Point Scotland, we have opportunities for Lead Practitioners to support individuals experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness and or need support to protect their home.

Standard working hours are 9am - 5pm Monday - Thursday, and 9am - 4.30pm Friday.

About the role

Our Lead Practitioner role will include:

• Working with individuals who have a range of complex needs which often sit with homelessness, providing them with practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives.
• Supporting to liaise with local authority/ housing associations staff to help them to secure their own permanent tenancy.
• Supporting with life skills to enable them to maintain their tenancy, celebrating achievements and milestones, both big and small.
• Supporting them within the community and engaging with external professionals & empowering them to develop skills and independence, promoting their overall growth.

About You

You will have a genuine commitment to use your skills to support people to live their best lives.

You will be supported by a friendly, approachable management team, allowing you to expand on your existing knowledge whilst developing new skills. A level of previous working experience in social care is an advantage, but not necessary as full training will be provided to you.

Fife Support Service delivers Housing First support, where we work across localities in Kirkcaldy and West Fife to enable people to maintain independent tenancy sustainment, reconnect with their local communities and assist them to build their resilience to prevent repeat homelessness.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Support Practitioner to work in our Rattray/Blairgowrie service. Unlike other support roles, with Turning Point Scotland, no two days are the same!

• Provide person centred care and support to individuals with mild learning disabilities, mental health conditions and autism, enabling them to live in their own tenancy.
• Assist with daily living, promoting citizenship, dignity, independence, and respect.

• Maintain a safe environment and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

At Turning Point Scotland Perth & Kinross, we deliver services for people who have a learning disability or autism and unique and complex behaviours which challenge the service: many of the individuals we support have some forensic histories. We support people who live in 24/7 supported accommodation projects and their own homes. We also provide support within our outreach service to people with learning disabilities within the area of Perth & Kinross.

For the past nine years, Bethany Christian Trust have been delivering a community-based addiction recovery program in Scotland. As the demand for this service grows, we are looking for a candidate who will lead, develop and deliver Bethany’s Bridge to Freedom program within a group setting. A significant part of the role will also be to facilitate and develop recovery and resettlement work in partnership with churches and other organisations around Inverness.

It is essential that you have experience in facilitating, planning and working with vulnerable people in a community setting. A qualification in Social Work, Social Care, Community Education or related discipline is essential, or a willingness to work towards such a qualification.

Role:

Based in our Wellbeing Hub in West Edinburgh, you will lead a skilled team who provide a range of practical, social and emotional 1:1, group and whole-family support to children, young people and families who have experiences of care to help them:

• Move on from residential living to independent life and living in the community
• Develop healthy relationships, connections and mental wellbeing
• Build confidence, education, skills and training

Our team work closely with:

• Our residential house teams in North and East Edinburgh to provide additional support to the young people, young parents and babies living alongside us to further develop their social and community connections
• Young people who have lived with us and are now requiring ongoing support in the community or supported living in one of our community Transition flats
• Young people and families from the wider care community and young people in our fostering households who require support.

We work together with families, social work, health services and other colleagues to keep the strengths, aspirations and voice of children, young people and families at the heart of all we do while ensuring their safety and welfare is always maintained.

The Team Leader role is pivotal to this. Tasked with the day-to-day operations of the Community & Transition team, Wellbeing Hub and Transition flats, you are expected to lead, support and supervise a small staff team to create a culture of nurture and community for young people, young parents, babies and families.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and supervise a team delivering trauma informed, developmentally attuned direct practice
• Oversee all Wellbeing Hub activities, ensuring it remains a safe, inclusive relational and engaging environment
• Coordinate referrals, assessments and care planning using GIRFEC and rights based principles
• Strengthen connections between the Hub, residential houses, foster carers and community flats
• Oversee support being delivered to our transition flats and that it aligns with Care Inspectorate guidelines.
• Work with Team Leaders across our services to model integrated, developmentally attuned care
