Role
We are Euan’s Guide, the award-winning disabled access charity making it easier for disabled people to find places to go. At the heart of the charity is our disabled access review website – euansguide.com – where disabled people and their friends, families and carers can find and share disabled access information.
We also run the UK’s largest and longest-running Access Survey, and our Red Cord Card campaign has made tens of thousands of accessible toilets across the UK safer for disabled people.
We are an ambitious charity with a strong focus on technology, which means Euan’s Guide sits in a unique position – combining the pace and innovation of a tech start-up with the values and purpose of a charity. There is no ‘typical day’!
We have ambitious plans to grow and have secured funding for a Scotland-based Volunteer Lead to work with us until the end of March 2027.
The role
Volunteering is at the core of everything we do. We are now looking for a Volunteer Lead to help us take our volunteering programme to the next level.
This is a strategic, fixed-term role focused on reviewing and overhauling Euan’s Guide’s volunteering infrastructure across Scotland. Rather than just delivering activities, this role is about building the systems, pathways and frameworks that will allow our volunteer programme to grow sustainably, deepen its impact and extend its reach into rural and remote communities.
You will work closely with our two existing Volunteer Co-ordinators and across the wider Euan’s Guide team, including our Comms, Tech and Impact colleagues. You will report to our CEO.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real and lasting difference to how disabled people across Scotland can access the information they need to live independently and participate fully in society.
This is a new role and we have funding for one full-time position, fixed term until the end of March 2027. The role is made possible by funding from The Scottish Government’s Improving Access Fund

The Boys’ Brigade (BB) is a Christian uniformed youth organisation, providing opportunities for children and young people to learn, grow and discover in a safe, fun, and caring environment.
BB Companies (groups) meet in communities across the country, supported by dedicated volunteer leaders who give their time and skills every week.
We are delighted to have recently secured funding for Phase 7 of CashBack – ‘Location CashBack’. Working together with Youth Scotland, Guides and Scouts – Location CashBack is a three-year Leadership and Participation programme funded by Scottish Government CashBack for Communities Funding.
Location CashBack will support young people aged 10-25 years in SIMD 1-2 areas who may also face barriers including being impacted by poverty, crime and anti-social behaviour.
Building on connections to trusted local youth groups, like the BB, it will offer safe spaces, mentoring, personal development and leadership opportunities that open new pathways for learning, life and work.
We are now looking to recruit a part-time Development worker to lead the Location CashBack project with our local groups.

Girlguiding Scotland is seeking an experienced Chief Executive to lead and inspire both staff and volunteers in shaping the future of guiding across Scotland. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact, helping girls and young women across the country reach their full potential.
As Chief Executive, you will provide visionary leadership, creating a positive, supportive culture where staff and volunteers feel valued, empowered, and motivated to deliver the organisation’s mission. You will work closely with the Scottish chief commissioner and trustee board to ensure strong governance, sustainability, and a clear focus on strategic priorities.
You will also work in partnership with the deputy Scottish chief commissioner to guide the operational board in successfully delivering key projects, ensuring goals are met and opportunities for growth are maximised.
As a visible leader, you will act as a role model for members and represent Girlguiding Scotland in the wider Scottish community. In addition, you will strengthen connections with Girlguiding UK, building positive, reciprocal relationships and ensuring alignment of vision, purpose, and strategy.

This is a full-time position based at Girlguiding Scottish Headquarters in Edinburgh, with some hybrid working. Hours of work will normally be Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm. There will be an extensive requirement to attend meetings and events held in the evening and at weekends, in line with volunteer availability, for which time off in lieu (TOIL) will be given. There will be a requirement for travel throughout Scotland and the UK including evenings and weekends with occasional overnight stays.
Youth Leadership Development Officer (maternity cover)

This is a really exciting time to join Girlguiding Scotland. With nearly 40,000 young members we are the largest charity for girls and young women in Scotland. We’ve been around for over 100 years and have much to be proud of in that rich and vibrant history, but we know that to remain exciting and relevant to young people we must continually evolve.
The overall purpose of the role is:
We’re looking for a collaborative and supportive youth leadership development officer to help disadvantaged girls and young women to build leadership skills and confidence through Girlguiding Scotland’s community-based youthwork opportunities. This role is a maternity cover until end of March 2027.
This role is funded through the Scottish Government’s CashBack for Communities programme as part of the Location CashBack project. This project is delivered in partnership with consortium partners from Youth Scotland, Boys Brigade in Scotland and Scouts Scotland. From April 2026 to March 2027 this work will be focused on working with Girlguiding members in deprived communities in Glasgow, Inverclyde and Renfrewshire.
We’re looking for someone who can build strong relationships quickly and who is comfortable working independently, as well as working as part of the team of staff and volunteers at a Scottish level.
They’ll need to have strong facilitation and communication skills, be comfortable delivering training and youthwork activities and experienced in gathering and using data to inform the direction of their work. They’ll need to possess a high degree of motivation, innovation, and creativity to engage volunteers in target areas and meet the project targets.
In the role they will develop and deliver a programme of over 400 leadership development opportunities for disadvantaged young people (aged 10-25) using Girlguiding’s programme of activities, awards and qualifications.
Location:This is a home-based role although regular travel to meet with volunteers, young people and other stakeholders in project areas in the evenings and weekends will be expected. This may involve overnight stays. You will be required to regularly work evenings and weekends, for which TOIL will be given. We do not pay overtime. You will also be required to attend monthly meetings at our office in Edinburgh.
Project Officer – Volunteer Recruitment Project

The project officer for the Volunteer Recruitment Project will help deliver this special project which is designed to recruit and welcome more volunteers into Girlguiding Scotland.
You will be a key member of the Volunteer Recruitment project team. You’ll use your knowledge and experience, and insights gathered by our Volunteer Recruitment Officers who are out and about supporting local recruitment and awareness raising activities across Scotland, to identify opportunities to create new resources, trainings and partnerships.
You’ll be involved in researching and collating information, producing reports, creating training materials and support resources, and organising events and developing training. You’ll also provide advice to volunteers about recruiting and welcoming other volunteers and signposting sources of support.
Main areas of responsibility
Support local recruitment and welcome activity
- Using membership data and other internal and external sources, support our volunteer recruitment officers target areas for development work
- Create a rolling quarterly calendar of opportunities (including dates of volunteer centre-run events and award programmes and Further/Higher education events) for our volunteer recruitment officers and local volunteer teams to use.
Support national recruitment and welcome activity
- Work with other members of the Volunteer Recruitment Project team to identify where new training, good practice guidance, templates and resources could help volunteer teams respond to challenges around recruitment or welcome
- Create resources and training materials designed to support current volunteers with recruitment and welcome
- Support the delivery of in person and online workshops and training related to recruitment and welcome
- Ensure the content of our national programme of online information sessions designed to welcome new volunteers, is updated to reflect changes in internal policies and procedures and ensure it remains relevant and engaging
- Work with relevant staff and volunteer working groups to develop proposals for new projects, e.g. support research into the potential for a corporate volunteering programme
Facilitate best practice sharing
- Share regular project updates with internal stakeholders to an agreed reporting format, allowing wider staff and volunteer teams to see how the programme of development work is progressing against targets.
- Contribute to the promotion of the project via social media, digital communications and Girlguiding Scotland meetings and events
- Attend relevant external events and trainings to develop your own knowledge and understanding of the sector and put this learning into practice
Monitoring and evaluation
- Support the completion of monthly and quarterly updates demonstrating the impact of the project in local areas and across Scotland.
- Evaluate training and resources and update or develop as required with input from relevant staff and volunteers
