About the Service

We offer a range of support in Edinburgh working in partnership to build trust to people to live independently and be engaged in communities. We offer supported accommodation in Edinburgh with the goal to Identify personal outcomes and build on skills to support living well and living life together.

We welcome candidates who are eager to develop their skills, gain valuable experience in social care, and thrive in a supportive, learning-focused environment. Previous experience in a support role is desirable but not essential as full training and support will be given.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Provide support that positively impacts the person we support’s health and wellbeing
• Contribute and implement support plans
• Be responsible for the delivery of all support and its administration, including personal care, tenancy support, health needs (including assistance with medication), personal development, emotional needs and inclusion.

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Qualified to the level required by the SSSC as a support worker in a housing support service/care at home service, or a willingness to work towards and to successfully complete qualification within the SSSC specified timeframe.
• An energetic, enthusiastic person who would be interested in supporting a young man who lives with autism and learning disability; for whom the service provides 24/7 cover.
• Support is inclusive of indoor and outdoor activities, so a willingness to be outdoors and be fit enough for longer walks would be essential, within the rural community.
• A clean UK driving licence is required in order to take our client to and from activities.
• Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative
• Passion for helping people live independently
• Experience or interest in housing, social care, or community support
• Commitment to the values and mission of Care Support Scotland, and to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion

Desired Skills and Attributes:

• A practice qualification (at least SCQF level 7 or above) recognised by the SSSC, in the category of support workers in a Housing Support Service / Care at Home service, or willingness to work towards this.
• Understanding of benefits and budgeting support
• Previous demonstrable experience working within an adult social care setting
• Understanding of the Care Inspectorate and its purpose
• Understanding of the SSSC and its purpose
• A Positive Behaviour Support, or Trauma Informed Practice qualification or accreditation.

Our service users include people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, acquired brain injuries and mobility issues. Because there is so much diversity among the people we support, we provide different levels of care. Working together we adopt a partnership, building trust and to develop an individual plan. We focus on potential, building confidence and skills to meet the individual’s goals. Setting goals in partnership to support mental health and emotions, developing and building on skills whilst providing practical and day-today support to live independently.

Role and Responsibilities

• Apply your knowledge of best practice, codes of practice and current regulations in the social care sector and ensure the provision of a high quality and socially inclusive service

• Manage support plans and contribute to support reviews alongside Service Managers

• Work with Service Managers on service referrals and staff interviewing & selection procedures

• Assist in monitoring the service’s progress against an agreed business plan including evaluating work and implementing changes to improve results

• Develop, implement and monitor action plans for any team-led changes or external recommendations from the Care Inspectorate, Quality Assurance or Business Assurance

• Contribute, in consultation with the Service Manager and the Finance team, each year’s budget and ensure the financial targets are met

• Develop constructive relationships with national and local statutory, voluntary and community agencies to ensure appropriate resources, support and understanding of the service

• Deputise for the Service Manager, assuming the responsibilities in their absence.

Essential Skills and Attributes

• At least 3 years’ experience of support/care services

• Experience providing support and development to a team

• Partnership working and collaboration

• IT literacy and ability to use and understand data to make informed service decisions

We’re looking for a friendly, motivated person to join our team. The Community Delivery Coordinator will support the delivery of the MCR Pathways mentoring programme in Aberdeen City and surrounding areas. You will support our volunteer mentors and young people, and ensure mentors and young people receive individualised support and remain fully engaged throughout their mentoring journey. You will be responsible for the timely recording and updating of internal mentor recruitment documentation, supporting mentor recruitment, and assisting with the delivery of in-school and community based mentoring and group work.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload of young people and mentors, from initial referral and relationship building to active programme participation.
• Help with the recruitment, interviewing and training of volunteers, including conducting PVG safeguarding checks.
• Facilitate and support the “matchmaking” process to ensure young people are paired with the most suitable mentors rapidly and effectively.
• Conduct regular progress evaluations, providing both support and constructive challenge to monitor the impact of the programme.
• Work with the regional team to help drive mentor recruitment to the targets needed for your area.
• Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality case studies to satisfy funding and quality assurance requirements.

About You

• Exceptional ability to build meaningful relationships with young people, education colleagues, volunteer mentors, key partners and community organisations.
• Awareness and understanding of the principles of safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.
• Ability and confidence to present programme information and deliver prepared training sessions to groups.
• Ability to work well on own initiative, as part of a team and on a flexible basis in response to young people and organisational needs.
• An understanding of the challenges and barriers that care-experienced and/or vulnerable young people and young adults may encounter.
• Experience or a knowledge of processes to document and evidence good practice and positive outcomes.
• Good knowledge of the local area, including community groups, employers and local organisations.

You should be a “people person”, open-minded and happy talking to large groups as well as having one-to-one chats.
