Linlithgow Community Development Trust is a charity formed by residents to deliver changes that benefit our community. Our staff and volunteers are all local people focusing on projects prioritised by local people. By coming together, we want to access the resources needed to help develop strong, inclusive and meaningful projects that give the community a sense of purpose and value and build confidence that they can take into all areas of their lives. Annually, we engage with over 3000 people through our activities, improving the environment, people’s health and wellbeing and strengthening our communities.

Job Purpose:

This role will play a vital part in the growth of the organisation and success of our projects. This new position will be responsible for driving forward several projects linked to community development, volunteering and learning. As an LCDT Project Officer you will work closely with project staff and partners to increase the number of volunteers recruited and support new and existing volunteers to ensure an overall positive experience. You will develop processes and procedures to safely and effectively recruit, induct, train, mentor, retain, and empower volunteers including those experiencing barriers, to build their confidence and to maximise their impact in our local community.

In addition to volunteer development, you will also drive forward some learning events and projects that will predominantly be run by volunteers to achieve outcomes that we have committed to with our funders. This will involve reaching out to community groups across the ward to gain a better understanding of their needs and aspirations.

This role will be heavily focused on engagement with those seldom heard and experiencing barriers so a strong understanding of, and commitment to, equality and diversity is essential.

About FOSS:Friends of Scottish Settlers (FOSS - SC050254) envisions a Falkirk District that is multicultural, multilingual, and welcoming, where local people, organisations, and services are equipped, supported, and willing to cultivate wellbeing, solidarity, community, curiosity, and respect among newcomers and longtime residents. Through befriending and other voluntary activities, FOSS enables newcomers to Falkirk District to build links and bridges with other locals, shaping and making use of the knowledge, networks and services we all need to live full, self-determined lives.

FOSS builds fruitful relationships through a culture of integrity, respect, solidarity, empowerment, and welcome. We began as an informal befriending project for resettled Syrian families in 2016, and, primarily through a befriending model, now engage a range of newcomers to Falkirk District including refugees and people in the asylum system. With partnership working, targeted activities and programmes, fundraising, advocacy, and good information, FOSS enables local volunteers and newcomers to strengthen and proliferate support networks within our communities. This also helps us to act constructively together in response to rapidly changing world events and policy that impact our lives.

About the role:

Purpose of the post: Experienced Volunteer Coordinator to train, support and grow FOSS’s Volunteer base, as well as coordinate and help produce procedures and resources necessary for Volunteer and Client safety and care. The Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with other FOSS Staff to establish and monitor Befriending relationships; manage crisis situations and mitigate risk; oversee non-Befriending Volunteer roles like Material Needs delivery; as well as coordinate and maintain oversight of Volunteer-led activities and Volunteer support of asylum-seeking Clients accommodated in Falkirk’s asylum contingency accommodation. About North Berwick Trust

North Berwick Trust is a long-established local charity supporting residents through grant-giving, land stewardship, and community investment. Each year, the Trust distributes around £250,000 in grants to individuals, community groups, and organisations, supporting education, wellbeing, recreation, and initiatives that alleviate local need.

The Trust is also a significant landowner, responsible for maintaining two key areas of public open space for community use, requiring effective contract management, estates administration, and long-term planning.

The Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees, who work through thematic groups covering Grants, Estates, and Finance. With a small staff team and an engaged Board, the Trust offers a collaborative and values-led environment where communication, relationship-building, and practical support are central to success.

The Trust is seeking a proactive and organised Trust Officer to support the Trust Manager and Trustees in delivering the day-to-day operations of the organisation. You will:

• Act as first point of contact for general and grant enquiries
• Maintain grants records, databases, and reporting to ensure transparency
• Research and apply for external funding opportunities
• Support preparation of Board and committee papers, meetings, and minutes
• Monitor grounds maintenance contracts and estates administration
• Maintain website, social media, and other digital communications
• Deputise for the Trust Manager during periods of leave

This is a varied role combining administration, grants, communications, and estates management and offers the opportunity to make a visible impact on the North Berwick community.

What North Berwick Trust needs from you

The ideal candidate will bring administrative or officer-level experience within a charity, community trust or similar environment, or be able to demonstrate strong transferable skills. You will be highly organised, an effective communicator with excellent attention to detail, and experienced in supporting meetings, managing records and monitoring contracts or service delivery. You will be confident using IT systems relevant to charity administration and able to work independently while supporting Trustees with governance and compliance.

Ideally, you will also have experience of identifying funding opportunities and preparing grant applications, alongside some knowledge of estates, property or grounds maintenance. Familiarity with OSCR requirements, Scottish charity regulation, and maintaining websites or social media would be an advantage.

You will be proactive, self-motivated and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a small charity environment. Collaborative and values-driven, you will build effective relationships with Trustees and colleagues and demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop as the organisation continues to evolve.

The Kilmadock Development Trust (KDT) has secured funding for a Project Officer 2 years on a part-time basis for two days a week/ 14 hours a week.

We are looking for someone with relevant qualifications and experience to work with the KDT, involving engagement with the local Community Council, the Community, external stakeholders and funders on community projects. Initially this will involve completing some projects that have been started and are at various stages. Also identifying funding streams to allow major community projects to progress. The suitable candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication, excellent interpersonal, presentation and IT skills. They will be proactive, able to work on their own initiative, provide reports and plans working strategically. Salary £14,560 per annum, position will be based from the Centre, but homeworking will be considered as appropriate. The position requires someone educated to degree level and/or previous experience in these areas.
