About Aberlour Family Support Service Glasgow…

Our Aberlour Family Support Service, based in Glasgow will work in partnership with children and young people and their families to develop relationship-based, strengths-focused whole family support.

What we are looking for....

As a Family Support Worker you will develop a person-centred working relationship with your families, based on a model of ‘VOICE, VALIDATION and HOPE’. Working directly with families to build on their existing strengths and interests, you will help children and families build skills and confidence and strengthen community connections. Our ambition is to help children, young people and families feel safe, confident, capable, and included, offering support when it is needed, including evenings and weekends. We believe in working alongside families, empowering them to lead positive change in their own lives in a variety of settings including family homes, schools, and within the community.

We are looking for candidates who are experienced in working alongside vulnerable families to assess strengths and needs as well as plan, deliver and evaluate interventions and strategies which enable families to thrive. You will have experience of child and adult protection issues and of working with children, young people and parents/carers affected by domestic abuse, mental health and/or substance misuse. You must share our vision that collaborative working and relationship based early intervention is the best option for children and families who are feeling overwhelmed or excluded.

Ideally you will hold a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above, together with relevant experience of working directly with children or young people and their families.

Not afraid to test new ways of working, you will bring a fresh, caring, and collaborative approach which recognises strengths and responds empathically to the needs of children, young people, and their families – this will include early mornings, evenings, and weekend work.

This role is offered on a fixed term basis until March 2027.

The post holder will work directly with children and young people with experience of care, in an individual relationship-based advocacy role, and within participation and group activity across our west central region. This unique role requires you to listen to what children and young people with experience of care say and support them to ensure their rights are upheld and their voices are heard in the processes of making decisions about their lives. You will also help facilitate a broad range of participatory and engagement opportunities and create the conditions for collective advocacy.

The right candidate for this post will be brilliant at forming positive relationships with children and young people. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, adaptable to a wide range of contexts. You will enjoy working collaboratively with partners. You will be committed to children’s rights, inclusive working, equal opportunities, and believe that all young people can make transformative change happen in their lives if given the opportunity.

The successful candidate will be joining Who Cares? Scotland and working within the west central locality team at an exciting time, when the voices of those who are in or have experienced care are growing in power, individually and collectively – bringing with them insight, challenge, hope and change. Flexibility will be required given the remit of the role. Some evening and weekend work will be necessary, as will a full driving licence and access to transport.

About Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC)

Aberlour Child Care Trust is leading a Partnership of Highland Council, Barnardos Highland Services, Right There and Gateway to provide practical support care and integration to Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC).

The partnership provides support to Asylum-Seekers 16+yrs in all areas of life from house management, community relationships, education, financial management, activities and volunteering. Together we ensure the support improves the lives of young people using a rights-based trauma informed approach.

The Service is dispersed, with an office base in Inverness. Staff are required to provide support across the region – Inverness, Muir of Ord, Dingwall, Alness, Invergordon and Tain. Access to a vehicle and a driver’s license are essential to this role.

What we are looking for....

We are seeking to recruit Project Workers to join our established team. Funding is currently guaranteed until 31st March 2026 but we are extremely hopeful of funding being extended beyond this. The post requires some weekend work, and shifts are up to 10 hours long, starting from 8am and finishing up to 8pm. Our full time posts are 37.5 hours per week. We are also open to applicants interested in working part time. If applicants could state their preferred weekly hours in their application form. There is a need for flexibility to adapt to the needs of the service and young people however where staff are needed to work outwith these hours, this would be discussed in advance.

The young people are looking for someone to join the team who is fun, caring and encouraging, providing them with varied and bespoke support to meet their needs; from learning how to manage a house and finances to taking part in activities and learning opportunities that enable them to build a sense of belonging.

You will be an allocated keyworker for specific young people, whilst also being able to work across the service with everyone where required. You will ensure support provided promotes integration, meeting of cultural needs, independent living skills and feelings of safety, through building nurturing relationships which empower young people to grow and develop.

Strong communication skills are required for this role. English is not the first language for many of our young people requiring you to adapt your communication accordingly and support them in their informal learning of English. Additionally, the role requires you to liaise with other agencies including health, education and social worker developing collaborative relationships ensuring the young person is at the forefront of the work we all do.

Ideally, you will have a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above, or be willing to work towards this.

About Options Moray

Aberlour Options Moray is a community-based service for children/young people with learning disabilities offering residential, short breaks, family-based care and community support matched with the individual needs of every young person.

What we are looking for....

We have an opening for a Young People’s Worker, to work 22 hours per week on a permanent basis. The team work no more than 4 days before a day off and currently have every second weekend off. Rotas are designed around the needs of the young people we care for and ensuring the wellness of the practitioners we employ. Late shifts are 2pm to 10pm. Early shifts are 7.30am to 2.30pm. Overnight sleep ins are part of the role, alongside an awake member of night staff. Shifts can be subject to change as and when required for the needs of the service.

Individuals need to bring a range of qualities to the role including being playful, warm and accepting and must be able to adapt their practice to appropriately meet the varying individual needs of each young person. This role can be challenging but is also immensely rewarding and provides postholders with rich opportunities to develop their own practice and understanding of the needs of children and young people with disabilities.

You must be comfortable working in a culture based on respect, integrity, innovation and the ability to challenge – both yourself and other people. We support our staff to be as effective as they can be through dedicated training and supervision. In return our staff act as exceptional role models supporting the children and young people, as well as sharing knowledge and learning with colleagues.

Ideally, you will have a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above, or be willing to work to this requirement as per SSSC registration.
