We are recruiting volunteers to join our board of trustees. Braeburn Home is a small and unique care home, situated in a quiet residential area in the heart of Inverleith, Edinburgh. We are a private home providing residential, nursing and respite care to older adults.
We are a friendly, dynamic team of Trustees, looking to speak to interested parties that can be either experienced or someone seeking their first opportunity to enhance their skills in a charity board setting.
We are ideally looking for someone who has an understanding of the health and social care sector but this is not essential. Persons with skills in either finance/accounting; nursing, social work/ relevant health care, IT or HR are particularly welcome.
The minimum time commitment includes attending monthly board meetings (approx. 3 hours), but we are hopeful you will use your expertise to further support our senior management on an occasional basis, co-leading on specific projects.

The Link Academy team works primarily with people with complex backgrounds. The experiences of these young people often result in low self-esteem and confidence, poor mental health and a pattern of destructive behaviours. Because of this, these young people find it difficult to manage key transitions such as moving into work or training, into a tenancy or leaving care. The service works hard and creatively to maintain the early engagement of participants. By offering mental health and wellbeing programmes, independent living skills and a wide range of qualifications to support their progression, we give young people the tools to better manage their own mental health. Doing so helps them break negative and destructive cycles of behaviour and thinking, with the aim of putting them on the path to having the best life possible. Staff are trained in using a trauma-informed approach to support young people to build confidence, develop resilience and realise their goals for the future.
The Job
The ‘Right Track (Navigating Positive Futures)’’ is a preventive programme which focuses on supporting young people at risk of becoming involved in the criminal justice system, through the provision of one-to-one and group-based support. The Development Worker will have a background in criminal justice and will support young people facing issues including youth crime, antisocial behaviour, family breakdown and school-related difficulties, to achieve their goals and aspirations, providing them with practical tools and techniques to overcome the challenges they are facing. We welcome applications from people with lived experience and professional experience.
The Development Workers will also provide support to parents and caregivers, as well as leading a team of peer education volunteers (16-24) who will use their own lived experiences of the criminal justice system to positively influence young people supported through the programme.
About You
You are passionate about supporting young people to overcome challenges and achieve positive outcomes, particularly those involved in or affected by the criminal justice system. You will be educated to SCQF Level 7 (HNC or equivalent); however, we actively welcome applicants with relevant lived experience who may not hold formal qualifications, as training and qualifications will be supported within the role. In these cases, you must have demonstrable experience of working with this client group.
You will have a minimum of three years’ professional experience in youth work, including direct experience of working with young people in a criminal justice setting. You are skilled at developing, shaping, and delivering engaging programmes that respond to the current challenges facing young people, using a trauma-informed and relationship-based approach.
You are confident in building positive, trusting relationships with young people and have experience creating or identifying resources for one-to-one work and group delivery, including the effective use of digital tools and resources. You will also have experience of building and sustaining partnerships with a range of stakeholders.
You bring a good understanding of current Scottish policies and the social, economic, and systemic challenges affecting young people and families in Scotland. You are highly organised, with excellent planning skills, and are an effective communicator, confident in both oral presentations and written reporting. A good working knowledge of ICT is essential.
You are a collaborative team player with a flexible, can-do attitude, willing to work across different areas as required. Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to support specific training programmes or events, although this sits outside normal delivery hours.

The Service
LinkLiving Skills Academy combines in-depth knowledge and experience of our sector along with our highly experienced trainers to offer a variety of learning opportunities that will help individuals develop the skills, knowledge and experience needed to succeed in their roles. We use a variety of content, discussion and activities to ensure our sessions are engaging and interactive. We are also a Qualifications Scotland accredited training centre with over 10 years plus experience delivering qualifications.
The Job
The purpose of the job is to deliver SCQF/SVQ accredited leadership courses, trauma-informed practice training, and personal development workshops to front-line professionals, Link Group of companies and to external partners. The role will require travel across different local authority areas and at times may require an overnight stay.

About You
You are educated to diploma level (or equivalent) and bring a training qualification or substantial experience in the design, development and delivery of high-quality training programmes. You are an Qualifications Scotland Assessor/Verifier or are willing to work towards this qualification, and you have a strong understanding of how to evaluate training effectively to ensure learning objectives are met.
You have a good knowledge of the issues affecting people who are excluded or marginalised, including an understanding of the NES Trauma Informed Framework. You are familiar with mental health self-help resources and tools and are committed to using person-centred approaches in your work. You are skilled at building, maintaining and nurturing supportive, equal and positive relationships, demonstrating empathy, active listening and sensitivity to people’s emotional and social wellbeing.
You are a confident communicator, able to adapt your approach across a range of situations, remain calm under pressure and respond positively in challenging or crisis situations. You are a proactive problem solver who can work independently, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and contribute effectively as part of a collaborative team.
You are comfortable using technology and software to support communication and day-to-day responsibilities, with experience of collecting data, maintaining accurate records and producing clear reports. You also have experience of building and sustaining strong professional partnerships with external organisations and partners.
You bring a flexible, practical and reliable approach to your work and are willing and able to travel to Link and partner sites across different local authority areas. You hold a current driving licence and have access to a roadworthy car.

The Service

The Job
The Business Administration Assistant will provide a customer-focused and comprehensive administrative and reception service to the Practice and Participation team and all stakeholders, including support to the Service Manager. The Business Administration Assistant is responsible for providing facilities management within Link Academy ensuring the building is fit for purpose and adhering to Health and Safety policy at all times.
This post will include providing confidential administrative support; dealing with enquiries from a range of agencies; processing referrals, arranging initial assessments, and leading recruitment for courses for youths; preparing papers for meetings and training; tasks, materials and financial record keeping; data entry; stock control and ordering; arranging repairs and servicing for building; raising purchase orders, processing invoices and managing petty cash.
About You
You are an organised and proactive individual with proven experience in an administrative role, confident in managing a varied workload and supporting efficient service delivery. You bring strong written and verbal communication skills, alongside excellent numeracy and literacy, enabling you to produce accurate work and communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
You are highly IT literate, with hands-on experience of Microsoft Office systems including Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as using the internet in a professional capacity. You are comfortable working with database systems and have experience using electronic document management systems to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
With excellent organisational and time management skills, you can prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team. You use your initiative to solve problems and respond flexibly to changing demands, ensuring a high-quality and responsive service at all times.
You have strong customer service skills and are committed to delivering a positive experience for everyone you work with. You value feedback and use it constructively to improve your performance. Importantly, you have experience of working in a person-centred way, ensuring that the needs of individuals are at the heart of your approach.

The Society provides financial support to people in their homes who are unable to work because of long term medical conditions. We have charitable status and manage Trust funds of over £5m which are used to provide grants and annuities.
