We are recruiting for Volunteer Coordinators to coordinate and oversee the effective delivery of a community-based mentoring model for young people aged between 12 and 25.

These are newly created roles, and the post holders will have responsibility for the recruitment, training and day to day supervision of volunteer mentors and ensuring ongoing support of mentor and mentee matches. The roles are fixed term contracts for a period of 12-months working 17.5 hours per week. One role is based in Kirkwall, Orkney, and one in Inverness.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

• Volunteer Management including recruitment, training and regular support and reflection with volunteer mentors, ensuring that volunteers are supported to undertake their roles effectively.
• Develop and build relationships with our programme teams
• Build upon existing strong relationships with social work, education, children’s houses, third sector and other professionals and strengthening these relationships.
• Confidently manage and coordinate positive, respectful and compassionate relationships between mentor and mentee, ensuring good boundaries.
• Liaise with existing support team(s) internally and externally and provide additional support(s) to the mentee’s family, as and when required.
• Liaise with internal and external referral sources, regarding new and existing mentoring referrals.
• Ensure support plans for the people we support are completed and updated in accordance with GDPR and confidentiality processes.
• Ensure Risk Assessments are completed and updated for the people we support.

We’re looking for you to have gained experience of volunteer and/or staff management as well as experience of supporting young people and families with complex needs. You will have knowledge of the issues facing young people who are care-experienced and/or on the edges of care, knowledge of current relevant legislation and policies relating to children and young people as well as a working knowledge of child protection procedures.

A full driving license and access to a car for work purposes is an essential requirement.

What you can expect from us...

• Your normal working hours are 17.5 per week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9am and 5pm depending on the needs of the service. Flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the people we support and volunteers, some evening and weekend work will be required.
• Your main place of work is Kirkwall, Orkney. You are also required to work in the local community and you will be paid travel expenses from your usual place of work for appointments undertaken in the course of your duties.
• Annual leave entitlement of 210 hours (equivalent to 6 weeks) pro rata per year in the first year rising to 280 hours (equivalent to 8 weeks) pro rata per year in the second.
• You will be automatically enrolled into the People’s Pension in the month that you will complete 3-months of employment, provided you meet the auto-enrolment criteria

We are Right There, a charity that recently celebrated our 200th anniversary. We provide tailored support for people, at home, and in the community. We are here for people who are living with the effects of homelessness, poverty, substance use, or family breakdowns.

We are seeking suitably qualified and experienced counsellors to join our existing School Counselling team in the Scottish Borders to deliver this service to young people in the Scottish Borders. This is a rare opportunity to join a growing service, work within a dedicated team, and make a measurable difference to the lives of children and young people aged 10–18 in the Scottish Borders.

The postholder will be responsible for providing counselling with children and young people aged 10-18 who attend school or live within the Scottish Borders. The postholder will be attached to specific High School cluster(s).

Qualified to MSC/Diploma level in a counselling therapeutic discipline, a member of a recognised professional body (e.g. BACP, COSCA) and have experience of working with children and young people, you will also be committed to delivering a service according to best practice and within community settings.

The postholder will work within a multi-disciplinary environment and work effectively with other agencies, especially schools, in partnership settings.

This post may require evening and occasional weekend work: some evening and weekend work may be necessary – based on advance notice and a TOIL system.

Special conditions:

· The contract will initially run until 31st March 2028

· The post will involve some planned early evening working and occasional weekend working – based on advance notice and a TOIL system

· You must be able to travel across the Scottish Borders and will be required to occasionally attend meetings in Midlothian or East Lothian

Our Community Healthcare Support Service provides access to a range of supported self management and community recovery services to support people across Scotland to manage their health as well as possible and adjust to life after a diagnosis of a chest or heart condition or after a stroke.

The purpose of this role is to support the Head of External Engagement, Peer and Participation, and colleagues across the External Engagement and Service Development Directorate, in building a strong and wide-reaching network of stakeholders. These relationships will help drive forward CHSS’s No Life Half Lived ambitions and highlight the value of our community healthcare support model in achieving shared strategic and operational goals across Scotland.

You’ll play a key role in promoting and championing CHSS’s approach, helping to strengthen our reputation, broaden our reach, and demonstrate the impact of our work. This includes developing meaningful partnerships and engaging with influential decision-makers across the third sector, NHS, Scottish Parliament, NHS Boards, Integrated Joint Boards, and Health and Social Care Partnerships.

A particular focus of the role will be on identifying and developing strategic and operational partnerships in respiratory and cardiac health, increasing referrals and ensuring people living with these conditions receive the support they need.

You will be part of Scotland’s leading charity providing support to people with chest, heart and stroke conditions to live life to the full again. Our Community Healthcare Support Services form a nationwide network of local services, including our Supported Self Management programme, community support groups, nurses, volunteers and one-to-one support teams helping families adjust to life with a heart or lung condition or after a stroke.

We are looking for a Supported Self Management Training Facilitator to join our amazing team in the Borders area. This role is focused on making sure that people affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions have access to our evidence-based Chronic Disease Supported Self Management programme,enabling people with our conditions to live with, and beyond, their new reality.

Through delivering our Supported Self Management programme, you will support people to develop the skills, knowledge and tools to confidently self manage their health condition and live as independently as possible. You’ll also

help people to get back to doing the things that are important to them – from simple things like walking to their local shop following a stroke, to returning to a sky-high hobby of gliding!

You will co-facilitate the delivery of our 6-week Chronic Disease Self Management workshops with another trained facilitator and line manage any volunteers who support the delivery of these sessions. You will lead and

motivate participants within a group setting to take control of their lives in a positive way, raising their confidence and empowering them to develop the skills to set and achieve goals, make strong and supportive connections with their

workshop peers and make meaningful changes to their lifestyle to support their ongoing self management journey.

Candidates don’t need to have medical knowledge, or previous experience as a Chronic Disease Supported Self Management Facilitator, as full training is provided. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude towards people

with disabilities and long-term conditions and an understanding of the challenges faced by people with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long Covid. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to engage with others confidently and deliver key information, clearly.
