In this role, you’ll engage with the public at exciting venues and events across Scotland, encouraging people to support wildlife conservation by becoming members of the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

This role as Membership Recruiter is critical to the success of our work, and for the future of Scotland’s wildlife and wild places.

The Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Membership Recruiter to join our team.

No day is the same for our Membership Recruiters – you will travel around varied, exciting and unique venues throughout Scotland, all within a 1 hour radius of your home base, unless otherwise arranged with your line manager. Your days will be spent managing your own membership stall, actively engaging with the public and inspiring them to become members of the Trust.

Our membership recruiters are often the first point of contact for people who are yet to learn about our work. And so, whilst the main part of this role is to recruit new members, our recruitment team also work hard to inspire the public to become as passionate about wildlife as we are. Whilst experience is desirable, we are open to meeting the right fit for our team, and this position comes with direct training, with your fuel and parking costs paid for on top of your salary and commission. You’ll also have your own vehicle provided for business use.

As a member of our recruitment team, you will:

• Actively contribute to our vision of a healthier, wilder, Scotland.
• Attend venues and events as a Membership Recruiter
• Use appropriate communication and sales techniques (with no ‘hard sell’) to encourage members of the public to join the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

The successful candidate will:

• Be an engaging communicator – you can comfortably build rapport with members of the public and colleagues.
• Be a self-starting individual who is confident with lone-working.
• Be well-organised with good administrative skills.
• Have some knowledge of conservation and wildlife in Scotland.
• Hold experience in a customer-facing role such as Direct or Field Sales or Customer Service with experience of working to targets.
• Have the flexibility to work weekends.
• Be comfortable with working outdoors and independently.
• Have a full UK driving licence – there is no requirement to have your own vehicle.

About The Cats Whiskers:

The Cats Whiskers was formed in 2018 by a group of dedicated local volunteers, who saw a need in our local community for the care and re-homing of cats. Initially, these efforts were all carried out with the support of incredible foster carer volunteers. We are now thrilled to operate our re-homing centre in Alloa.

We also have a charity shop in Alva, opened in 2018, which generates income for our core purpose of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats.

Purpose of the job:

Since welcoming the first cat into our shelter in October 2022, our activities have grown to meet

need. In 2023, we rehomed 150 cats. In 2024, this increased to 179. We have also had an increase

in foster care, launched a pet food bank, and become a distribution partner for The Blue Cross. We

are seeking to onboard this role, our first paid staff member, to ensure the smooth day to day

running of our Rehoming Centre on Broad Street. To take on this role, we are looking for someone

who shares our passion for cat welfare, and wants to provide a quality, community service,

supporting our incredible volunteer team, working with, and furthering our local partnerships, and

ensuring the best possible care for our cats.

Main Responsibilities:

As the Volunteer and Centre Coordinator, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the Centre, focusing on the welfare of all cats in our care, and managing our volunteer programme. You will also ensure that all administrative and maintenance procedures are completed to a high standard.

We are looking for someone who is positive, driven and has the ability to thrive under pressure. You will support the board of trustees to continue to develop our Centre and services to meet local need. You will be someone who has:

• Experience and passion for cat care
• Great communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Current (clean) driving license
• Strong organisational, administration and analytical skills
• Experience of working within local communities; creating and nurturing partnerships

The Role of Activity Centre Manager:

Reporting to the senior management team, the Activity Centre Manager will have overall responsibility for the operational management, development, and day-to-day leadership of the centre, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and commercially successful activities.

You will oversee all aspects of centre operations, including activity delivery, staffing, facilities, equipment, and logistics, while ensuring every guest experience meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of instructors and operational staff, creating a positive, professional, and safety-led culture, supporting their training, development, and performance.

This is a hands-on, dynamic role where operational excellence, proactive problem-solving, and strong organisational skills are critical. You will ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, licensing, and safeguarding requirements, maintaining robust systems for risk assessment, incident management, and emergency planning. You will also work closely with the senior management team to achieve business targets, optimise income, and support the ongoing development of the site, facilities, and equipment.

You will bring strong operational and people-management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff while ensuring high standards of performance, safety, and customer experience. Excellent organisational, financial, and administrative skills are essential, alongside the ability to manage complex, competing priorities. You will have strong interpersonal skills, with experience building and maintaining positive relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be flexible, resilient, and willing to work hands-on, including outdoors in all weather conditions and during peak periods, including weekends. You will hold a full UK driving licence, relevant first aid qualifications (or willingness to obtain), and appropriate industry certifications. Wester Loch Ewe Trust (WLET) was formed to benefit the community of Wester Loch Ewe

specifically to

• manage community land and associated assets for the benefit of the Community and the public in general; to
• advance community development, including rural regeneration within the Community;
• advance education for all ages in the Community, and the public at large, with the object of improving the conditions of life of the Community;
• provide, or assist in providing, facilities and/or activities for those in need in the Community by reason of age, isolation, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage;
• to provide, or assist in providing, facilities and/or activities, for recreation and for the advancement of the arts, culture, history and heritage to be available to members of the Community and the public at large, with the object of improving the conditions of life of the Community;

WLET’s voluntary Board of Trustees seeks to appoint a committed and capable individual to help make a step change in their capacity to support the local community. Providing support to the Board, acting as the point of contact with funders and stakeholders and actively progressing a range of projects, this post has transformative potential.

In addition to supporting a range of volunteer led services, the Trust is currently working on two significant projects:-

1. Phase 2 of the redevelopment of The Old School, Inverasdale

2. Poolewe development project

Candidates for the post of Development Manager are likely to have a background in charity and financial management or business development, have the ability to multi-task across a range of projects and have good experience of working in and for place-based communities. A track record in income generation, marketing and fundraising would be desirable.

The post holder will be required to explore and develop the potential for new initiatives both within and beyond existing projects. They will contribute significantly to strategic discussions and work closely with the Trustees. We are looking for a team player with great ideas, a practical hands-on approach and strengths in communicating and building relationships.

This post is funded by Foundation Scotland through the Recovery and Resilience Programme and administered by DTAS (Development Trusts Association Scotland).

Location: While aspects of the role may be deliverable remotely, we are seeking a candidate who is able to live in or near to Inverasdale and be present at The Old School when necessary. The establishment of strong community relationships will be important.
