GAMH are commissioned by Glasgow Carers Partnership to deliver support to unpaid Carers living within the North East of the city. Our service offers inclusive and holistic support to Carers to help maintain their quality of life and improve their health and wellbeing.

The primary focus of this post will be to work with unpaid Carers and Young Carers delivering a range of supports so Carers will have the ability to manage their caring responsibilities whilst also maintaining their own wellbeing. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. We are looking for a dedicated and motivated individuals to join our team. Y sort it Young Carers Service supports young carers aged between 8-18 years across West Dunbartonshire.

This exciting post offers a unique opportunity to work with Young Carers within school, home & community based settings. The role of the Young Carer Support Worker will be to support young carers in making informed choices around issues that are important to them, through one to one, group work sessions & respite.

You will be offering and completing Young Carers Statements (Assessments), developing support plans, providing advice and information, training and group work to support young carers with their caring role.

Young carers are supported through a range of measures to alleviate the caring role and your role will be to work closely with schools, partner agencies and family members to ensure they are able to be a young person first and foremost.

You will be active at providing support and encouragement, helping them to overcome challenges and /or barriers working towards goals to improve their learning, skills and personal development. Offering guidance, rights based information, creating learning opportunities. You will be developing support plans, providing advice and information, training and peer support. Your role will be to work closely with schools, partner agencies and family members.

The post holder should be flexible as the actual times of work will involve working, evenings, school holidays and weekends. The post holder should be flexible as the actual times of work may change to respond to the demands of the work of the Young Carers Service including overnight stays for respite.

Established in 1965, Murray’s Initiative adopts a long-term, trauma-informed and asset-based approach to changing the culture around substance use. Murray’s Initiative offers free, confidential counselling services for people concerned about their own or someone else's drinking. Murray’s Initiative is also a recognised provider of professional development, offering a comprehensive training portfolio including education aimed at increasing awareness of alcohol use and promoting healthier lifestyles, COSCA Counselling Skills and a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Murray’s Initiative deliver services over 6 days per week and throughout Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire and East Renfrewshire, helping people make meaningful, positive change in their lives.

About the Role:

The Diploma in Integrative Counselling is 2-year course, credit rated at SCQF level 10 by the University of the West of Scotland, and validation from COSCA. Murray’s Initiative is one of the founding COSCA members and adheres to the COSCA ethical framework for good practice in counselling, psychotherapy and counselling skills. The course requires lead tutors who are accredited by COSCA to Diploma level or committed to work towards accreditation. Tutors should be experienced Counsellors who are accredited with an appropriate professional body, or working towards accreditation (e.g., COSCA/BACP/UKCP).

The Lead Course Tutor will have responsibility for two Diploma Courses, leading on one weekly class and one weekend class. The Lead Course Tutor will be expected to contribute to a Murray’s Initiative CPD calendar, writing and delivering on content agreed with the Head of Diploma and Training. The Lead Course Tutor will support the development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of the Diploma in Integrative Counselling.

The Lead Tutor will report to the Head of Diploma and Training.
