Health in Mind offers a range of counselling services. We are seeking a compassionate and qualified Counsellor who is fluent in British Sign Language (BSL) to join our team in a self-employed capacity. You will provide face-to-face and online one-to-one counselling individuals facing a range of emotional and psychological challenges in our Lothian Deaf Counselling service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver confidential counselling sessions tailored to client needs
• Maintain accurate and timely client records
• Work collaboratively and have good communication with the Counselling Team Leader and Administrator
• Uphold ethical and professional standards in line with BACP guidelines

Requirements:

• Recognised counselling qualification (Diploma or Masters Level)
• Registration with COSCA, NCPS, BACP, UKCP, HCPC or other relevant professional body
• Experience working with diverse client groups, including people who have experiences of trauma
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Changes was established in 1996 as a community health project and since then we have evolved and grown to the medium sized charity we are today. As we celebrate turning 30 this year, we have the opportunity to launch our new 5-year strategic plan 2026-2031and with it, reinvigorate our Board with new membership.

We are seeking a Family Support Worker (0.6 FTE) to join our team. This post will support the delivery of the Forth Valley Family Support Service. This includes delivering community-based services that specifically address the needs of families affected by alcohol and drugs.

The post-holder will be responsible for delivering a range of family support services which address the specific needs of families and support groups, including evidence-based interventions, with the assistance and support of the Senior/Family Support Development Officer – Forth Valley. This includes facilitating family support groups and working with individuals on a one-to-one basis; providing advocacy to support groups and individual family members, and actively promoting family recovery and family inclusive practice.

The post has a Forth Valley wide remit and will involve significant travel throughout the region and some to our offices in Glasgow. It is expected that the post holder will be required to work some evenings and occasional weekends. This post will be part of Scottish Families’ staff team and be supervised by the Senior/Family Support Development Officer – Forth Valley.

We are seeking applicants who are educated to HNC level, vocational qualification (level 3) or relevant professional qualification; have experience of direct client work, group work, direct work with families and understanding of the voluntary sector; with knowledge of issues affecting families affected by substance use. Candidates should be able to effectively and sensitively advocate for others, with strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Held in our Hearts is a small but mighty and growing Scottish charity providing baby loss counselling and peer support to families. We have over 40 years’ experience of offering compassionate bereavement care to individuals and families and working closely with a range of partners including the NHS, Scottish Government and the third sector.

Our values of empathy, connection and love underpin all that we do and guide us as we continue to grow and expand our services and reach. Our support services include counselling, one to one peer support, our innovative early intervention Hospital to Home service, group support, and events.

In recent years, we have expanded our team and extended our geographical reach to bereaved families from Edinburgh and the Lothians to Fife, Forth Valley and the Highlands.

Role background:

Hospital to Home is an opt out service which supports families to transition from the hospital setting to being back in the community. 6-8 sessions are offered, to support and guide families in the very early days of their loss, enhancing existing community services to provide long term peer bereavement support.

We will work alongside NHS colleagues to provide a more comprehensive and cohesive transition from the hospital to home setting. Early intervention, through Hospital to Home, will highlight and identify emerging issues associated with complicated grief and trauma, and families can be offered long term support through peer support or counselling. This early support will reduce the isolation and loneliness that bereaved parents feel, improving family’s long term mental and physical wellbeing and their ability to grieve with empathic support in place in the community.
