Role

PAMIS are the only organisation that solely supports children, young people and adults with a profound learning and multiple disabilities (PMLD) and their families to lead healthy, valued and inclusive lives. Profound means deep, wide and expert and we have for 32 years been educated and supported by this community to deliver responsive, inclusive, and innovative projects, research, education, and family support.

We are now offering two exciting opportunities to join our highly skilled team as an Inclusive Leisure and Culture Programme Development Officer. You will support the development and delivery of the Inclusive Leisure and Culture Programme within either the Clackmannanshire or Grampian region for people with PMLD and their families. Your role will support the entire family, foster community connections, and deliver inclusive events throughout one of the regions.

Not only will you develop and deliver a range of appropriate accessible and inclusive leisure and cultural activities and events but you will work with the PAMIS team to provide support and advice to local communities and other organisations on how to include some of the most marginalised in society.

About You

You will have a higher education qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field – health, social care, arts, sport, leisure or culture. A high degree of confidence in communicating, networking, building relationships and advocating for the people you will be supporting.

You will preferably have experience in delivering accessible and inclusive leisure and/or cultural activities and knowledge and experience of working with people with a learning disability, their families, and carers.

You will be committed to developing and maintaining effective relationships with a range of key stakeholders, e.g., family carers, children, young people, and adults with PMLD and others involved in their lives, local communities and services, schools, colleges, and resource centres.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise and work with colleagues in statutory and voluntary agencies

With excellent organisational, verbal, and written communication skills, including researching and assimilating information and compiling reports, you will be competent in managing a varied workload. You will be proactive and resourceful, at times working under pressure, and managing complex relationships.
