Role

Are you passionate about high quality childcare and making a real difference to children and families in Scotland? Do you want to be part of SCMA – a thriving membership organisation, advocating on behalf of childminders and delivering services across Scotland?

We are recruiting for this post to ensure we can raise the profile of childminders as funded childcare providers with both stakeholders and parents and ensuring they are included in Scottish Government’s Programme for Government ambition for the roll-out of accessible and affordable SACC and other funded childcare for priority families.

The Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) is the national voice of childminding in Scotland. SCMA is a national Third Sector and membership organisation that promotes childminding as a quality childcare service. Working on behalf of its 3,000 childminder members, SCMA helps to improve the wellbeing and outcomes for Scotland’s children and aims to influence policy to ensure that it is informed by the experiences of childminding. SCMA provides a wide range of support and professional services for members including training and events as well as delivering local services. For more information about our organisation and services visit childminding.org

The successful applicant will work alongside local authority partners such as education and community services, as well as third sector and family support organisations. You will work closely with the Childminding Development Officer and Area Manager West, with the aim of increasing the understanding of how childminding works and the technical aspects of how childminders can deliver a school age childcare model and other models of funded childcare for priority families.

The postholder is required to have a proven ability to work with partners, negotiate and represent childminding. Enthusiasm, self-motivation, good communication and excellent organisational skills are required.

The post is home based, requiring travel and attendance at meetings across the central belt and occasionally wider (including regular attendance at Head Office in Stirling). Equipment and broadband/IT connections will be provided.
