Calvay is looking for new Committee Members to help drive our organisation as we provide quality, affordable homes and services in the Barlanark area of Glasgow.

We are at the heart of our community and have its needs at the heart of all that we do.

We are a medium sized housing association and have a mixture of property types; the original stock acquired from GCC in the 80s, new-build properties and ‘second stage’ transfer properties. We also provide factoring services and lease one commercial unit which is used as a local shop.

Calvay Housing Association is based at the Calvay Centre, which is also offers office space to the Quarriers charity. The Centre has an IT suite, is home to Calvay Community Café, and has a hall which is rented out for a variety of activities.

Knowes Housing Association Ltd (KHA) is a community based social landlord committed to its mission of providing good quality affordable housing and services which meet the needs and aspirations of the community we serve. The Association owns and manages 1056 properties and provides factoring services to 562 customers situated mainly in the Faifley area of Clydebank. We have 22 members of staff and an annual turnover of £5m.

This is not a paid position, but all expenses associated with attending meetings will be reimbursed. Experience in the housing sector is not a requirement as training and support in the post will be given. The commitment we require from you is one evening meeting per month which can be attended in person at our office or from your home via a Zoom link. You will also be involved in our annual business planning strategy day and will have the opportunity to attend housing training events. This is a great opportunity to enhance your existing skills and experience especially if you are looking to further your career in the housing sector or in management.

Cairn Housing Group requires an experienced Corporate Officer to support both the Governance Services Manager and the Health & Safety Manager.

Key duties and responsibilities include supporting the Boards, Committees, Working Groups and staff groups as directed by the Governance Services Manager, ensuring that meetings are organised, papers are co-ordinated, circulated, fully minuted and run according to the regulatory and organisational standards set. Monitoring follow-up actions, updating records/registers in compliance with organisational, regulatory and statutory requirements, and completing other governance administration tasks as directed. Supporting the Health & Safety Manager for Cairn Housing Group with various administrative tasks as directed to ensure safe, effective and compliant processes and procedures throughout the organisation.

The successful applicant should have strong administration skills, a relevant academic/industry qualification or significant experience (3 yrs) in a similar role, experience of working with and supporting senior management teams, experience of producing high quality minutes for governing bodies and committees. Knowledge of governance and health & safety issues would be advantageous.

A willingness to travel and to able to occasionally stay away from home overnight may be required.

Patchwork Recovery Community is very much led by those in recovery from active addiction however our organisation boasts a healthy mix of volunteers from all walks of life who bring a range of experience, opportunities and expertise to our organisation.

As need for our services has grown, so have we, and we’re looking for new trustees to contribute to our vision and develop our next five-year plan.

About the role

Our Board of Trustees are volunteers responsible for overseeing our governance, setting our strategy, and ensuring that we’re accountable and administered effectively.

We currently hold 2-hour Board meetings every six weeks, which we would prefer you join in person however provision can be made to join meetings online. You will also have the opportunity to attend further internal and external events for learning and connection.
