Overview

We are seeking a part-time (25 hours per week to be worked flexibly as agreed with successful candidate) Finance & Administration Manager to join our friendly team and manage the charity’s finance and administration functions. The ideal candidate will hold or will be working towards ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualifications or have an equivalent level of knowledge. At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role is necessary. This role requires excellent Excel skills and experience in producing high-quality financial information using a range of Microsoft software, Xero accounting software (or similar) and familiarity with online banking systems. This is the only dedicated finance role in the organisation and as such, the duties vary from day-to-day operational processing of finances to strategic financial reporting.

The administration management aspects of this role will require the postholder to support the Chief Executive to deliver a variety of objectives including HR, Health & Safety and IT to ensure that there are efficient and effective systems, processes and policies in place to support our people and projects. The ideal candidate will be highly organised and methodical in their approach. They will have excellent time management and prioritisation skills, with the flexibility to respond to changing needs in a dynamic working environment. The role requires excellent communication skills, with the ideal candidate having the ability to both communicate confidently with a wide range of people and to build positive relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.

The Society provides direct financial support to single women aged over 50 who are in need and has been doing so since 1847.

We have a vacancy for a Caseworker to cover the Angus, Grampian, Highlands & Islands areas. Ideally the post holder will be located in Aberdeenshire, but the right person is more important than the right location.

Caseworkers assess both new applicants and existing beneficiaries against the Society’s eligibility criteria, and provide light touch advice and support including signposting to other services. An understanding of the challenges that older women living on low incomes face is crucial, and good knowledge of welfare benefits / money advice is very help helpful, although this is not primarily an advice role. Most importantly, we are looking for someone with significant experience and a non-judgemental, empathic approach who can help the Society to understand people’s circumstances and to find the best ways for the Society to prioritise and offer support.

The Society offers excellent conditions, flexible working and the opportunity to develop a uniquely positive working relationship with the women the Society supports. While the post is home based, it will involve significant travel throughout the post holder’s region (including occasional overnight stays) and to attend meetings in Edinburgh a few times a year. PVG membership is essential as are a driver’s licence and access to a car. Mileage is paid at 53ppm.

We are searching for a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees, who will work with the other Trustees and senior staff to oversee The Pyramid’s finances and ensure they are properly managed. Please note, we employ a Finance Manager, who deals with The Pyramid’s day-to-day financial business.

The role is paid (£25 per hour for approx. 4 – 8 hours per month), with reimbursement of reasonable expenses.

The Treasurer should have experience of financial management and financial expertise in formal settings. Knowledge of governance and current finance practice relevant to charities, particularly SCIOs, would be advantageous. Ideally, the Treasurer will also have previous board/committee experience, and a working knowledge of the third sector. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to effectively communicate and work with the Board and staff team.

The Treasurer will be required to prepare for and attend Board Meetings (currently every 8 weeks) as well as annual planning days and potentially sub-committee work.

Main purpose of job:

The purpose of the role is to support the Finance Manager in the administration of the Scottish Civic Trust (SCT), and management of tenant relations at The Scottish Civic Trust’s headquarters at The Tobacco Merchant’s House. The post also provides support to the Director, ensuring the smooth running of board and committee meetings and will aid other staff members in the development and delivery of their projects.
