We are looking for a highly motivated person-centred team leader to join our Family and Education Services Team.

The job role will lead the operational day to day delivery of a high quality family support service for parents/carers of autistic children and young people and provide a comprehensive school support

service to our education colleagues across Perth & Kinross.

Working with the operational team to ensure that family support planning is effective and engaging, the post holder will also support the Service Manager to understand trends and themes, to help innovate and develop the service. You will lead on funded projects, working within budgets set for projects and support the day to day staffing of the operational team, including performance reviews, identification of learning and development needs and caseload support, advice and information.

Responsible for staffing the service, and allocating caseloads, you will also be involved in all aspects of team management including annual leave and sickness absence and supporting our team to ensure a healthy work life balance.

You will be an ambassador for Perth Autism Support, building relationships across the community to further our vision to support autistic children and young people to reach their full potential.

Perth Autism Support was founded in 2011 to address the gaps in support for autistic children, young people and their families across Perth & Kinross.

In 2024, we have over 1200 families registered for services and support children, young people and families through the following service areas:

- Children’s Services

- Transitions Services (encompassing three project areas – Engage, Enterprise and Employability)

- Family and Education Services (including our Early Years project and Autistic Adults Peer Support)

We are governed by a Board of Trustees (8) and we have a staff team of 32.

• To support individuals to effectively manage any behavioural challenges they may present

• To provide support allowing individuals to manage their own finances and medication

The RSSW is a key role within Fair Deal which has been developed in order to provide skilled direct support to individuals with very complex and varied needs, including behaviour that challenges. The RSSW will work in services where alternatives to traditional models of care may be explored and implemented.

In addition to working directly with individuals with complex and varied needs, the RSSW will play a pivotal role in working in partnership with a multi-disciplinary team, families and those being supported to ensure a robust and outcome focussed support plan and guidelines are agreed and implemented.

Reporting to the Team Leader, the RSSW will provide day-to-day support to people within Fair Deal’s services, ensuring that all support provided is of the highest quality. They have a responsibility for ensuring that they fully understand and are able to deliver support as per the individual’s Support Plan and able to follow and develop robust guidelines and Risk Assessments in collaboration with families and other relevant agencies.

• To provide direct support to service users with very complex needs who display stress and distressed behaviour/behaviours that challenge.

• Develop and contribute to the maintenance of records, risk assessments and support plans and act as a key worker when required.

• To participate in regular and ongoing training relevant to the needs of the people we support and maintain SSSC registration.

Please note the post is for permanent night shift however there is an expectation that the post holder will be available for some initial training in daytime hours for the first few weeks in post. There may be a requirement beyond this for occasional daytime training course planned in advance.

Compassionate Distress Response Service

Glasgow Association for Mental Health is one of the principal providers of community mental health services in Greater Glasgow. We are commissioned by Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership to deliver a Compassionate Distress Response Service (CDRS) for people in distress who do not require a medical or clinical intervention. We would like to recruit for our Out of Hours Pathway for Emergency Services, First Responders, the Mental Health Assessment Units etc. The OOHs service operates 7 days a week Monday through to Sunday 5pm -2am.

The service operates from our GAMH Head Office, St Andrews by the Green, 33 Turnbull Street, Glasgow G1 5PR

Full Time Equivalent is 37.5 hours per/week: Mon to Sun 5pm – 2am (4 days on

4 days off) 9.38 hours per night).

This post is for 0.5 of 4 days = 2 days on per week

£27,656 per annum (pro rata £13,828 per annum)

Post is up to 31st March 2025 with possible extension.

Key Skills:

Good communication skills to be able to work effectively with referrers and individuals using the service. Compassionate listening, be able to alleviate individual’s feelings of distress. Be highly resourceful in supporting individuals i.e., identifying coping strategies, self-management techniques and onward referral where appropriate. Be confident and competent to apply risk assessment, safety planning, and escalation processes where appropriate. SVQ 3 or equivalent or willingness towards achieving this qualification is essential.
