At Upper Springland, we support adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, sensory impairment and
complex health conditions to live independently within their private accommodation on site, as well as providing
care and support within Housing Support and Care at Home in the community. We have a Day Opportunities service
on site which residents and members of the community access.
We have 2 exciting opportunities for experienced social care leaders, to line manage our team of Support Workers
within one of our residential service’s (full time) & our Housing Support, Care at Home and Day Services
(part time) all based in Perth.
Our closeknit team of Team Leaders, help our support staff to provide 24-hour support 7 days a week, and they require
a motivated and enthusiastic leader to join the team.
About the role:
You will be required to co-ordinate and supervise a team of support staff in delivering a high standard of social
care practice, using a person-centred approach that reflects individual customer's aspirations and outcomes.
As a Team Leader you will occasionally work on the floor delivering direct care including medication
administration, personal care and moving and assisting. Meaning it’s not all about paperwork, you still get some
hands-on practice!
A key part of this role is to coach, monitor, mentor and develop the skill base within the staff team. You will do
this by displaying Leadership skills such as role modelling, decision making, being an effective communicator,
having a positive attitude, commitment and confidence in your role.
As a Team Leader you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining a clear and calm manner whilst managing risk through assessment, planning, customer knowledge and
de-escalation, as required.
- Helping to recruit, induct and train colleagues and junior members of staff
in all aspects of their work, including supervision, mediation and personal development.
- Rota
management
- Managing customer activities
- Health and Safety
- Compiling and checking care
and support plans
- Management of medicines procedures
- Financial management for
customers
- Liaising with families, health and care professionals and social workers
- On-call
support
What you need to know:
Full time vacancy - we have a set shift pattern, 37 hours per week, 4 week rolling rota, so you always know when you
are working. Working a mix of early, back and late shifts, as well as weekends and on call, which are planned in
advance, enabling you to plan life outside of work responsibilities.
Part time vacancy - 22.5 hours per week Example Shifts - Monday – Friday: 7.5 hours, 09:00-16:30 – three days a week,
On-call Support – 24 hours a day – including weekends, roughly one in four. Please note: This post is female
