It is a very important time for Cornerstone with our current strategy ‘Future proofing Cornerstone’ coming to an end in 2025 we begin looking ahead, understanding the landscape in which we operate and developing a new strategy which will allow us to continue providing high quality care and support to people with autism, learning disabilities and other support needs across Scotland.

As a member of our Board, you will be instrumental in guiding the strategic future of the charity and ensuring exemplary governance and fiscal control. The main Board meets four times a year and board members will be expected to be a member of one of the sub committees. You will also act as a local ambassador for Cornerstone.

We are keen to hear from those with skills, knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas who feel they can make a positive contribution to our charitable activities: -

Senior management experience in the social work / social care sector preferably with strategic planning skills

Accountancy/financial experience preferably at management level

Personal experience of providing care and support of a relative or carer of a person who has experience of care

About Options Fife

At Options Fife we have been providing person centred services to children and young people with a learning disability and/or Autism for over 25 years. Our Family Workers enhance the existing provision offered, enabling whole family support for children and families with complex learning needs.

What we are looking for....

As a Family Worker, you will offer emotional and direct practical help to families experiencing short- or long-term challenges. You will work with families; identifying areas where support is required, working with them to co-produce a family support plan which will be individually tailored to their child’s and family’s needs. You will agree outcomes and personal goals within the child’s plan.

The role of the Family Worker will be diverse and wide ranging and will include the following:

• Promote and develop healthy routines, including sleep.
• Provide practical support with personal care.
• Support the development of play routines.
• Support parents to address difficulties and reduce risks.
• Build upon parents existing knowledge and equip them with enabling strategies and tools.
• Support families to have positive and rewarding relationships.
• Support families to implement structure, identify triggers and understand the function and purpose of their child’s behaviour and reduce challenges from escalating.
• Along with families, liaise and work with partners and colleagues from Social Work, Health and Education to assess, review and evaluate progress.
• You will have experience of supporting children and families with a learning disability and Autism. You will have up-to-date knowledge of best practice and supporting tools and interventions.

You will manage your own diary, and your hours will be 20 per week, worked flexibly between 7am and 10pm, Monday to Sunday. The days and hours worked will be agreed with families within the family support plan. There may also occasionally be a need to provide additional support out with these times and to be able to respond to crises and family stress.

Ecas is looking for a part-time (17.5 hours per week) Befriending Assistant to join our small office team. The successful candidate will assist the Befriending Manager to develop and deliver the Befriending Service for adults with a physical disability living in Edinburgh.

About us

Ecas is an Edinburgh based charity and was established over a hundred years ago. The charity works to improve the quality of life of physically disabled people in the Edinburgh and Lothians area: promoting equality, choice and participation through our activities, befriending service and grants.

The Befriending Service commenced in October 2007 and has a well-established number of ‘matches’. The service has a different approach to the more traditional schemes and started in response to the increasing number of people with physical disabilities becoming isolated and lonely. Isolated people with a physical disability may be in their own homes, in assisted housing, in accommodation provided by a housing association or even in residential homes.

Ecas has approached the befriending service in two connected ways:

• by recruiting, training and vetting volunteers to meet befriendees in person.
• by facilitating visits between isolated physically disabled people who are already friends or family and who would otherwise find it difficult to meet.

The Befriending Assistant will, in support of the Befriending Manager, work with other organisations to recruit both volunteers and those who need the service. To provide a manageable geographic area the service operates only in Edinburgh, but with the flexibility to involve volunteers and clients from out with that area in exceptional circumstances.

Fair Deal is an award-winning Social Enterprise providing assistance and support for people with learning disabilities, older people and young people. Established over 30 years ago we have been recognised for our groundbreaking work in valuing the people we support and supporting their needs. Based in Glasgow, we work alongside the people who use our support, to help them have the kind of life they want. At Fair Deal we are committed to personalised individual support arrangements enabling people to build and maintain the life they choose.

As a Support Worker, you will work within one of our highly motivated service teams to ensure delivery of a personalised individual support plan for people we support. The role is designed to enable people who use Fair Deal services to lead full and inclusive lives by meeting their support needs and working with them to achieve their wishes and aspirations.

Main Responsibilities

• To support individuals with all identified areas in their support plan
• To support individuals in areas of their lives including relationships, employment, appointments, education and social activities
• To support individuals to understand and fulfil their rights and responsibilities in all aspects of their lives
• To support individuals when engaging with external agencies and third parties as an advocate
• To support and promote healthy eating
• To encourage and support individuals to maintain or develop a full, inclusive social life
• To provide emotional support to individuals in challenging times
• To support people with intimate self-care tasks and encourage individuals towards greater self-sufficiency in these areas
• To support individuals to effectively manage any behavioural challenges they may present
• To promote independence
• To provide support allowing individuals to manage their own finances and medication

The main responsibilities are listed above, however, this list is not exhaustive, and the employee would be expected to perform any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties. Employees will be expected to apply for and maintain their Registration with the SSSC at the appropriate time, as specified by the SSSC, and to ensure they comply with the SSSC Code of Conduct

Experience:

• support worker: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care (preferred)
