Project Esperanza supports women and families from multi-ethnic backgrounds affected by poverty, chronic health conditions, caregiving responsibilities, language barriers, inadequate housing, racism, and migration trauma.

We are seeking a dedicated individual to enhance the well-being of multi-ethnic and care-experienced young people by connecting them to vital services. You will collaborate closely with our people.

The ideal candidate will be expected to:

● Conduct assessments to identify the needs, strengths, and barriers faced by individual and multi-ethnic youth.

● Build trusting relationships with young people, particularly those at risk or facing challenges such as poverty, racism, migration trauma, and lack of access to essential services.

● Provide therapeutic support to youth who have experienced trauma, especially care-experienced and neurodivergent youth. Offer emotional support, counselling, and guidance on personal, social, and educational issues.

● Connect youth to resources such as education, job training, healthcare, and housing, while addressing mental health, employment, and social integration.

● Serve as a mentor and role model, helping youth develop life skills, set goals, and make positive choices.

● Advocate on behalf of youth to ensure their needs and human rights are upheld.

● Organise and participate in community events, workshops, and programs to promote youth engagement and development.

● Provide immediate support in crisis situations such as homelessness, substance abuse, or mental health emergencies.

● Maintain accurate records of youth interactions, assessments, and progress.

● Identify areas for personal training and development.

● Follow Project Esperanza's policies, including child protection, equal opportunities, and anti-discriminatory practices.

● Gather data to assess outreach impact and identify emerging needs of multi-ethnic youth.

● Develop and execute social media campaigns targeting Black and multi-ethnic communities, in collaboration with partners and schools.

● Ensure campaigns are inclusive, culturally sensitive, and visible to young audiences.

This programme is aimed at changing the attitudes and behaviours of those most at risk of anti-social behaviours, offending/reoffending, entering the criminal justice system, and those who have been impacted by Adverse Childhood Experiences and trauma.

Key Responsibilities

Key Personal Skills and Duties

• Liaise with the other Youth Development Worker for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting including outcomes and indicators.
• Deliver the On Board with CashBack programme in-line with approved budget, and maintain this budget to ensure apprpriate spending of funds.
• Working with the Client Liaison Officer, develop and grow the existing client relationships and have a focus on working with different local authorities.
• Your interpersonal skills will enable you to build lasting relationships with both new and existing clients.
• Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines as part of a team. Excellent project planning skills.
• Good IT skills and an ability to use a database/CRM system.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Preparation of Voyage Participants

• Support and prepare participants for the On Board with CashBack programme - working closely with staff from referring partners and any other stakeholders to ensure that targets are met.
• Ensure that information about potential participants is clearly identified and communicated to relevant staff. Ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed in a timely and confidential manner.
• Deliver Pre-Voyage Preparation presentations that are tailored to the needs and accommodations of each group.

Personal Development of Young People

• Develop and maintain supportive and effective relationships with your caseload of participants, providing one-to-one support sessions in conjunction with other colleagues.
• Create and deliver sessions to groups of young people on a range of topics including the UNCRC, teamwork, managing your emotions, and communication.
• Support participants through the achievement of SQA Level 3 Core Skills in Numeracy, Communication, Working with Others and Problem Solving.
• Support young people’s personal development in line with the National Youth Work Outcomes and Skills Framework, and the project-specific outcomes of CashBack for Communities
• Contribute to the personal development of young people by identifying sources of support and guidance, volunteering or employability opportunities to support participants in their transition to a positive destination.

Relationships

• Liaise with referral partners and individual referral agents to ensure that the programme is appropriate to the needs of their clients, keeping them informed of progress and outcomes for participants.
• Liaise with and provide support to skippers and sea staff to ensure the needs of the young people are appropriately met.
• Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, reporting any issues in a timely manner to your line manager.
• Proactively engage stakeholders and partners in representing Ocean Youth Trust Scotland’s programme, including delivering presentations and attendance at meetings and conferences as required.
• Liaise with support staff to ensure effective communication throughout the wider staff team and the efficient use of any resources.

Sailing Responsibilities

• Whilst on a voyage, you will form part of the sea staff team, delivering a safe and empowering experiences for all of those on-board.
• Be motivated to learn some sailing skills to enable you to feel comfortable in a sailing environment.
• Be proactive in building a cohesive team between sea staff and group leaders.
• Usually, you will be sailing in the familiarisation or bosun’s berth on-board, although if you have the correct qualifications, you may be asked to be a Watch Leader in exceptional circumstances.

Monitoring and Evaluation

• Prepare participant information and keep records as appropriate, ensuring that systems are maintained for tracking and recording progress against the project outcomes and indicators.
• Liaise with any external evaluators to ensure accurate compilation of data for post-course support and evaluation purposes.

Other

• Attend and engage in team and external meetings, support and supervision sessions, and the Performance and Development Review process.
• Undertake any training and professional development as and when required to ensure effective work with young people at risk.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job title, as may be determined by the line manager.

Community Energy Scotland is recruiting for a Rural Energy Hub Officer based in Sheltand. We are looking to recruit an energetic, well-organised and self-motivated individual to work as part of a team delivering the Rural Energy Hub project. Technical training as required, personal development opportunities, and support will be provided by Community Energy Scotland.

This role is to cordinate a network of community groups across Orkney and Shetland, support the community groups to produce an evidence based sustainable community transport plan fit for their individual community, work on the role out of of new electric minibuses, chargers and/or charger management systems to five communities and work with the project team to create a replicability model to role out across other areas of the UK.

Greener Kirkcaldy is a community-led charity working locally to bring people together, take positive action on the climate emergency and support people through fuel poverty and food insecurity. We deliver a range of projects, events and skills training to achieve the needs and goals of local people – building resilience as a community and working towards a future where everyone can live better and tread more lightly on our planet.

Based in the heart of Kirkcaldy – with a community building, training kitchen, bike shop and garden – we carry out activities across Kirkcaldy and work with partners to deliver projects across Fife.

Growing and connection with nature has central to our work since the beginning. Our community training garden at Ravenscraig Walled Garden is a vibrant space. It offers courses, training and volunteer opportunities in gardening and growing. It also includes a community orchard, with over 100 fruit trees and a ‘wild area’ that is set aside for nature.

As lead partner of Climate Action Fife, we work with others to help people to garden in climate-friendly ways. We've helped people to plant fruit trees and we recently created a demonstration climate-friendly garden at our community building garden in Kirkcaldy town centre. We are always looking for new opportunities to help local people connect with nature on their doorstep.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to lead and develop our growing, nature and outdoor projects work.

As part of our Community Engagement Team, you will work with staff, volunteers and partners. You will develop and deliver a diverse range of events, training and volunteer opportunities around growing and nature.

You will play a key role developing new projects and activities, including grant-funded and income generating ideas. You will lead a small team of volunteers to maintain and develop our community gardens and coordinate day-to-day activities. For some volunteers, this is a pathway towards employment. For others, it is an opportunity for social interaction or to give back to the community.

You don't need to be an expert in climate change, growing or biodiversity. We will provide training and you will be supported by a great team.
