The Brock is a charity and social enterprise in Broxburn, West Lothian. We believe in a society where every individual with a chronic mental health illness or condition feels included, supported and valued. The Brock offers stimulating opportunities to socialise, build friendships, have a sense of belonging and increase confidence. We are based in a boutique garden centre, which includes the community Mind Garden, wood workshop and craft room. Where we offer opportunities to learn new skills in horticulture, woodwork, garden maintenance, landscaping projects and a variety of crafts.
We are now seeking a facilitator to join our team. The tasks are very varied, and the postholder will lead on garden maintenance internally at The Brock, and externally for private customers. At times this will include heavy lifting and lone working.
Having the right mind-set, attitude and approach is as important to us as having the right experience and qualifications.
If you have
- the necessary skills to engage with, and provide informal support to, our service users;
- significant practical skills and knowledge in garden maintenance, and basic skills and knowledge in plant care;
- the resilience to respond to daily changing personal needs and evolving business priorities;
- and you want to contribute to providing a non-judgemental safe space for people with chronic mental health illnesses and conditions,
then you may be the ideal candidate.
We encourage everyone interested to arrange an informal visit before the closing date, where we can explain the service and the role, and answer any questions you may have.
We will ask the successful candidate to complete a level 3 Understanding Mental Health course within 6 months of the start date. Occasional weekend working is required. You will drive the project vehicle.
For further information, an informal chat or visit please contact Koen Van der Straeten by email koen@thebrock.org or on 01506 858080. For an application form, please contact info@thebrock.org.
The successful applicant for this post will be required to obtain membership of the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) Scheme.
The closing date for applications is 12noon on Monday 26th August 2024 at 12noon, and it is anticipated that interviews will be held in Broxburn on 12th and/or 13th September.
