Our brand new centre needs a Cafe Manager!
The MAC , Monifieth Activity Centre, is a brand new community building at Riverside Drive Monifieth scheduled to open mid-September 24.
This exciting building offers flexible spaces for groups and activities, a large events space, fitness suite, and the local Library operated by Angus Alive. And at the heart of the MAC is the 40 seater café, with spill out external space overlooking the beautiful Firth of Tay
We are looking for a team player who will share our energy and passion in serving the community, and will contribute to the ongoing success of the centre. A hard-working individual with a cheerful, positive personality and exemplary customer service standards you will create a welcoming and well run café where visitors and centre users can relax and socialise. Passionate about quality food and fantastic customer service you will also have great organisational skills
Reporting directly to the Centre Manager you will take the lead role in all aspects of the café operations.

To plan, develop and monitor new and existing youth and families projects and developments within the Boomerang Community Centre, while engaging with local communities, the voluntary, faith, private and public sector organisations to ensure as an organisation we continue to grow.

To carry out regular evaluation of these activities which will be monitored by the Centre Manager and reported through the Board of Trustees.
To ensure the smooth running of all existing children, youth and family groups and activities and to promote the Boomerang Community Centre and activities at external events and via outreach work.
To work with children, youth and family groups and individuals to improve physical and mental wellbeing.
In conjunction with the Centre Manager help to secure funding for the organisation and to complete monitoring and evaluation to existing funders.
To prepare information to assist in the monitoring of grants.
To work with the Volunteer Co-ordinator to recruit and retain volunteers to assist with the successful running of any children, young people or family groups.

Maryhill Burgh Halls is an historic landmark building in North Glasgow. The listed 19th century façade wraps round a modern interior following the building’s comprehensive restoration and reconstruction completed in 2012. The Halls are owned and operated by Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust, a registered charity. The Trust operates the building for two principal functions:
- Event space - for heritage & art exhibitions, community activities and events as well as for private event hire.
- Business centre with business tenancies (providing the finances to support the overall operation)
Job Overview:
The key role of the Building Facilities and Lettings Manager is to look after the building and the occupational needs of the tenants and of the Trust. This includes acting as landlord to the business centre and as managed space provider to Trust’s hire, heritage and community use of the event space.
The Building Facilities and Lettings Manager will report in the first instance to the Trust’s Buildings and Lettings Committee and will be primarily responsible for the facilities and commercial lettings business and will work closely with the Trust staff managing the event and heritage activities.
Trust staff will provide financial (including purchasing, invoicing and bookkeeping) and administrative support to the Building Facilities and Lettings Manager.
A standard form of occupational licence is in use (with a structured service charge regime) and legal and property marketing services are available from agents.
Responsibilities:
Building:
- Oversee responsive, planned, and cyclical repairs, maintenance, and minor refurbishments to the structure, M&E and all other elements of the building fabric,
- Build a network of skilled trades to handle routine, planned, and emergency maintenance needs
- Be hands-on when necessary to troubleshoot and resolve key maintenance issues.
- Achieve best value, quality standards, and budget goals.
- Oversee statutory compliance and ensure health & safety protocols are being followed.
- Undertake risk assessments and manage risks associated with the building facilities and use.
- Improve and manage energy efficiency.
- Manage and operate the BMS.
- Manage building services including waste management, utilities, security and cleaning etc. including: Oversight of retained M&E management contractor and Management of caretaking staff.
- Preparation of budgets for maintenance management
Tenants:
- Manage lettings, re-lettings, reviews etc relating to the leases and licences of the business centre.
- Manage dilapidations agreements and related works
- Production, management, and reconciliation of service charge budgets.
- Act as first point of contact with tenants for all property related matters.
Others:
- Support the Halls Team with any property related requirements to support events/bookings/exhibitions.
- Advise the Trustees on all strategic and operational property matters.
ScrapAntics is a thriving social enterprise with 4 full time staff, 15 part time staff and 20 volunteers.
We have a ScrapStore, a busy community space utilised by around 150-200 participants a week, and support 21 artists in our studios. We offer a range of activities for the community including youth clubs, art and craft sessions, play sessions, cooking, gardening, social groups, cycling, football and large scale family celebrations.

Job Purpose:
- To support ScrapAntics’ CEO in the running of the organisation
- To support and coordinate the team - maintaining a positive and cohesive working environment

- Collaborating on funding applications and reporting as part of the management team
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Project management of commissioned projects
- Internal communications within the team - distributing information, answering questions, carrying out supervisions and being available for support
- Communicating and liaising with external partners and organisations including Dundee City Council and national organisations, ensuring positive relationships are maintained and information is shared
- Creating and collaborating on funding applications and project reporting
- Attending and facilitating organisational meetings; taking minutes and distributing these as appropriate
- Creating and updating/maintaining booking schedules and staff rotas
- Maintaining an overview of larger projects and supporting the project leads to deliver to budget and timescale
- Handling enquiries and taking bookings for activities, play sessions, workshops and space rental
- Creating and maintaining budget spreadsheets
- Maintaining a general overview of ScrapAntics organisational running and communicating changes and issues to ScrapAntics’ CEO
Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Experience of working in a thriving third sector organisation
- Passion for sustainability, community and social justice
- Positive leadership skills and experience of managing a team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a welcoming, friendly and helpful manner
- High level of IT and written skills
- Project management experience
- Experience of applying for and reporting on funding
- Experience of working with spreadsheets
