Role

Are you a skilled mediator with a collaborative approach and the ability to make a difference to the lives of young people and their families?

If so, this role could be for you!

About the service

Cyrenians Mediation & Support service has been working with families in Scotland since 2006. We know family breakdown is the main cause of youth homelessness in Scotland, which is why we endeavour to ensure every young person we work with has a safe home environment and the strong relationships that make this possible.

About the role

This role is part of the Promise Partnership Project - Youth Justice & Rights. You’ll be working with young people and their families, carers or guardians, to offer a mediation process that will help them address conflict before it leads to the young person becoming homeless.

The people we work with experience varied challenges, including: involvement in the criminal justice system; substance abuse; being in the care-system; and adverse childhood experiences.

In collaboration with our Family Outreach Workers, you will offer mediation to support the whole family to provide a safe space that will help them achieve a positive outcome (i.e. the young person remains at home, or moves out in a planned way).

About you

We are looking for a qualified and experienced mediator. You will be an excellent communicator who is able to build trusting relationships with people from a range of different backgrounds.

You should also be:

  • Well organised
  • Effective with your time management.
  • A strong team player
  • Committed to providing the highest quality of support
  • Able to demonstrate our values of compassion, respect, integrity, and innovation in the work that you do.

How we will support you

You’ll be part of a small team, led by a supportive manager. There will be

great opportunities for you to learn and develop, while sharing your skills and experiences. You will have access to wider Cyrenians support, including our learning and development programme, and staff wellbeing services.

About us

At Cyrenians we tackle the causes and consequences of homelessness by taking a Public Health Approach to Homelessness Prevention. We take a values-led and relationships-based approach to delivering all our services.
