When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. That’s because a stroke happens in the brain, the control centre for who we are and what we can do. It happens every five minutes in the UK and changes lives instantly. Recovery is tough, but with the right specialist support and a ton of courage and determination, the brain can adapt.

We provide specialist support, fund critical research and campaign to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support to rebuild their lives.

We are looking for a Communications Officer to support our team in Scotland to respond to Scottish media enquiries, delivering campaigns to influence health policy and support our fundraising and engagement comms activity.

Reporting to the PR Manager, the role will help deliver key media campaigns that call for change to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Working as a team to deliver a proactive, effective and 24/7 press office, building relationships with identified media and opinion formers, and ensure timely media responses based on organisational and reputational priorities.
• Working with the Campaigns and Public Affairs team to deliver influencing activity to key health board stakeholders, Stroke Association campaigners and the general public.
• Working with the Stories team to identify and deploy the real stories of the stroke survivors we work for.

You will have experience of:

• Generating media coverage in Scotland, ideally in the charity sector.
• Using media to deliver calls to action to the public (eg donating, fundraising, campaigning) and/or decision makers (eg policy change).
• Planning, executing and monitoring media plans against identified briefs and overarching objectives.
• Working alongside Policy and Public Affairs colleagues.
• Creating, posting, and managing social media content.
• Reputation management and working with crisis communications teams.
• Working with colleagues from across an organisation to identify media volunteers (case studies) and developing stories to deliver media coverage.

This role requires occasional travel across the UK to attend team days, conferences and researcher events. Candidates must be able to meet this requirement of the role.

Scottish Huntington’s Association is the only charity in the country exclusively dedicated to providing expert and personalised support for those impacted by Huntington’s disease when they need it, regardless of where they live.

Organised, motivated and a confident communicator, you’ll be responsible for driving income and building relationships throughout the East Coast of Scotland, to ensure we have the funds needed to deliver our specialist services for every family impacted by this devastating disease. We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds including (but not limited to) account management, marketing, fundraising, event management, or sales, and candidates who are based in any of the following areas: Aberdeenshire, Dundee and Angus, Edinburgh and the Lothians, Fife or Perthshire.

From supporter stewardship, event management, delivering inspiring presentations, and managing volunteers, no week will be the same. The Community and Events Fundraising Officer (East Coast of Scotland) will be joining a hard-working and talented fundraising team, working closely with our Senior Community, Event & Individual Giving Fundraising Officer, Community and Events Fundraising Officer (West Coast of Scotland), our SHA Communications team, as well as the wider SHA team.

We are looking for an engaging, passionate and tenacious person who can deliver strong, cost effective and sustainable income growth for the charity, along with good copy writing, admin and organisational skills, experienced at developing relationships, and can manage a busy and varied workload. This is a chance for you to channel your varied skills, qualities, and passion for relationship building to improve the lives of families impacted by Huntington’s disease in Scotland.

You will work from home with periodic travel throughout the East Coast of Scotland. There will also be occasional travel required for organisation-wide meetings.

This role will require occasional weekend and evening working for which time off in lieu will be agreed.

In addition to a competitive salary, we offer benefits including flexible working practices, and a generous leave allowance totalling 37 days (25 days Annual leave and 12 days public holidays). Upon 5 completed years of service, you will receive an extra day for each completed year up to a maximum of 5 days, and the the opportunity to opt into our competitive pension scheme.

Health All Round aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in the South West area of Edinburgh. The post holder will be responsible for setting up/ delivering a range of community arts groups, managing volunteers and working alongside other local agencies.

HAR has been delivering a range of high quality services for over 30 years in order to improve the health and wellbeing of local people and reduce health inequalities within South West and South Central Edinburgh.

Using a community development approach HAR works with local GP’s and other allied professionals to promote the social model of health and support the most vulnerable people in our community to improve their health outcomes. An average of 250 people per week access HAR services.

The Art for Health Project Worker will support the delivery of our new creative arts programme to support individuals to improve their health and well – being through involvement in the arts.

Are you an experienced event organiser looking for a new challenge? Do you want to use your skills to make a real difference to the lives of myeloma patients?

We are looking for someone with event management expertise who has excellent communication and relationship building skills to join the team responsible for delivering our programme of events. You’ll have good negotiation and presentation skills, a focus on detail and the ability to manage a variety of tasks often to tight deadlines.

About the role

The Information Events Coordinator will deliver our information events programme consisting of face-to-face and online events hosted by the team and held throughout the UK, developing the strategy for the programme and implementing event activity with the aim to increase participation and attendance.

You’ll be responsible for the planning, co-ordination and delivery of the events, including marketing and promotion, as well as logistics and resourcing. You’ll be required to attend several weekend events throughout the year so should be able to travel across the UK as needed.
