We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our excellent Young Person's Substance Misuse team in East Dunbartonshire. Our Young Persons Worker teams offer vital support, training, and education to young people in their locality. They work with other agencies and professionals to safeguard their young clients, working with their families too where appropriate.

This exciting role is an opportunity to join East Dunbartonshire's Young Persons’ service. You will work predominantly with young people who are aged between 11 – 25 years and are using drugs and/or alcohol or at risk of doing so in the future. Young people engaging with the service will often be experiencing complex difficulties. These may include concerns around mental health, safeguarding, homelessness, offending and chaotic substance use. The post also provides training for other professionals.
This role will require you to deliver group work in schools and community settings focussing on risk taking behaviours and substance use. You will work creatively with a diverse range of young people with varied behaviours and learning styles and will be connecting with hard to reach adolescents through adaptable and enthusiastic delivery of our evidenced based programmes.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person, with knowledge of drugs and alcohol who is passionate about developing expertise in harm reduction and improving support and health outcomes for young people in East Dunbartonshire. Applicants should have excellent communication skills and experience of working with young people aged 11 - 25, particularly in a group setting.
The role is community-based so access to a vehicle is preferable for this position.
You will play a vital part in supporting young people in the East Dunbartonshire area. You will regularly see clients in various places within the community from schools, care homes to our office.
