Role

Poverty and inequality are the greatest challenges Scotland faces. The Poverty Alliance is working hard to have policies introduced that can reduce, and ultimately solve, poverty. An opportunity has arisen to join our team and help us achieve our vision of a Scotland without poverty.

We are looking for an experienced Policy and Parliamentary Officer who can help us advocate for policies that will make a real difference to poverty in Scotland.

The post will be responsible for supporting the development of our policy positions across a range of poverty related areas, from employment and social security to participation and public services. We are looking for someone who can establish and maintain relationships with policy makers and civil society, to build support for the changes we want to see.

The successful candidate will join the Alliance's policy and campaigns team and will provide policy input across our activity while also contributing to key campaigns such as Challenge Poverty Week. They will have experience of working on a policy or public affairs on social justice issues at the national level. They will also have great policy analysis and communication skills and will have utilised these skills to advocate for change. Experience of working alongside people with experience of poverty, and with grassroots civil society organisations will be an advantage.
