Role

Bipolar Scotland is at an exciting time in our story. We are part-way through our 5-year strategy “A Time to Move Forward” and are offering the opportunity for an exceptional candidate to play a key part in the expansion of the organisation.

Partly funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, we are seeking an experienced Volunteer Development Officer to recruit, train and support Volunteers across different functions. This will include support group facilitators, and lived-experience peer volunteers, as well as working alongside senior colleagues to recruit fundraising and social media volunteers. A core element of the role will be the development of our support groups, including introducing groups to new areas across Scotland and attracting volunteers to help facilitate these groups.

The successful candidate will be a proactive, passionate individual with the drive and initiative to be part of a forward-looking organisation. The ideal candidate will have direct experience of recruiting and supporting Volunteers, including excellent record keeping skills and a strong commitment to compliance with due process for the protection of vulnerable groups. Knowledge or experience of working with mental health conditions is not essential but will be helpful in appreciating the context of our work. Experience of delivering training and supporting groups will also be beneficial.

The successful candidate must have a current driving licence and access to a vehicle. The role covers the whole of Scotland and will be based at our new office in central Paisley, with the opportunity for hybrid working. Part-time applications will be considered.

Due to the availability of volunteers, there will be an element of evening working required for this role.
