These services together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention and active living; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change. SAMH is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all: with a vision of a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances.

For Scotland’s Mental Health

About the Role

During the Every Life Matters suicide prevention action plan, the world’s first suicide prevention social movement; United to Prevent Suicide (UtPS) was established. UtPS was built on the belief that no-one understands the issues, barriers and solutions to suicide prevention better than those who have experienced it – personally, as part of a family, as a member of the community or as part of their work. It aims to be a social movement led by people with a range of lived experiences working together as a powerful catalyst for change.

The Scottish Government and COSLA have launched Creating Hope Together, a new 10-year suicide prevention strategy and three-year action plan. The action plan contains a commitment to “Continue to grow Scotland’s suicide prevention social movement, United to Prevent Suicide (UtPS) by encouraging people in communities and organisations – across all sectors – to join the movement and participate.”

The Social Movement Manager(s) will be responsible for establishing and managing activity, further developing this people powered movement using communications, community organising, peer networks and wider change approaches.
