Role outline and purpose
The Community Campaigner is responsible for building and leading a volunteer team to develop and deliver local influencing strategies in and with your local food bank and organising in your community to campaign for change. You will be the link between your food bank and the Organising and Local Mobilisation team at Trussell Trust, as we build a movement to end the need for food banks.
Salary:
The salary is £28,000.
Base:
The post will be home based with supervisory meetings held at the Ardrossan Church of the Nazarene facilities at 150a Glasgow Street, Ardrossan, Ayrshire, KA22 8EU.
Job purpose:
The Community campaigner will research issues affecting poverty within North Ayrshire through desk top research and group meetings with those who have lived experience of poverty and associated agencies / organisations. In discussion with those mentioned above the Community campaigner will design and implement campaigns to affect change to improve the lives of those with a lived experience of poverty and end the need for the local Foodbank.
Responsibilities of Local Organisers:
- To develop and manage a team of volunteers, building and distributing leadership across the team and within the food bank, to work on local influencing to reduce poverty and the need for food banks.
- To explore and understand the experiences that are bringing people to need the food bank’s support, working with food bank staff and volunteers, through listening activities and/or research.
- To map out and build relationships with the food bank’s partners, referral agencies and local anti-poverty organisations, and to engage them in identifying the local drivers of poverty.
- To identify a local issue driving poverty, build a campaign team and develop a strategy to build power and win change, working with food bank staff, volunteers, local politicians and/or agencies operating locally.
- To deliver the local influencing campaign working with food bank staff, volunteers, local politicians and/or agencies operating locally.
- To represent the work of the OLM at strategic partnership meetings including but not exclusively the North Ayrshire Food Forum and the Financial Inclusion Partnership.
- To work with the OLM team and engage with the training and support on offer, including work with other local organisers in the Trussell Trust network
- To engage in Trussell Trust’s central priority campaign activities, working with the food bank and local community

Alongside this, a new community-led consortia programme is being established to reduce child poverty through coordinated, person-centred support. To help the sector respond collectively and effectively, the Strategic Support Officer will act as both a shared strategic resource and the central coordinating role within this partnership.
The postholder will strengthen strategic capacity across participating organisations, enable more efficient cross-organisation collaboration, coordinate shared initiatives, and ensure the third sector’s collective voice is clearly represented in local decision-making. Working directly with Chief Officers and frontline delivery leads, the postholder will help translate shared learning into stronger pathways, reduced duplication, and a more joined-up experience for the families and communities we serve.

Role Requirements
This role requires the postholder to deliver high-quality, safe, fun, and empowering events and workshops in the local community for people with learning disabilities. You will be part of a small team working remotely and must have the ability to be proactive in managing your workload and meeting funders targets. The postholder should have the confidence and ability to engage in a variety of activities including delivering skills development workshops to members and delivering quality presentation to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities include
- Coordinating and delivering events and workshops across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
- Recording, monitoring, and evaluating your work effectively.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with Dates-n-Mates members, colleagues, volunteers, stakeholders, and partner organisations.

Development Workers Amplify

Amplify is a 3-year, Scotland-wide, large-scale Youth Participation programme funded by The National Lottery Community Fund (UK Fund). The Advocacy Worker will play a vital role in improving access to support for vulnerable families across North Ayrshire. Many families face complex and overlapping challenges including poverty, poor mental health, housing instability, financial hardship, and domestic pressures - yet struggle to navigate an often fragmented and confusing support system. This role provides direct, person-centred support to ensure families receive timely, coordinated, and meaningful help.
Acting as a connector between families and third-sector partners, the Advocacy Worker will deliver proactive outreach, tailored guidance, warm handovers, and ongoing follow-up - all designed to help families overcome barriers, stabilise their circumstances, and build long-term resilience.
