Role

Govan Community Project is recruiting a group coordinator to support a new project, providing mental health and wellbeing support to New Scots.

You will be responsible for working with New Scots using co-production skills to co-design a trauma informed, wellbeing groupwork programme which will support New Scots to develop knowledge and strategies which empowers individuals to understand and self manage their mental health and wellbeing and know where to access support when needed. You will co-facilitate the groupwork programme.

You will also work in partnership with other health organisations to coordinate delivery of awareness workshops, providing a platform for participants to find out about other wellbeing support available to them.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of working with people presenting with common mental health challenges, preferably in a community based setting. You will have a good understanding of how the UK hostile refugee/asylum system impacts on the mental health of New Scots. You will be confident in identifying safeguarding concerns and acting on these appropriately. You will have a high level of group facilitation skills, enabling you to support a diverse group of vulnerable individuals. You will be confident to deliver group activities where English may not be participants' first language. You will have the skills to be able to manage a varied workload, working independently and as part of a team.

This is a great opportunity to join a vibrant, dedicated team working in a diverse community.

Govan Community Project is wholly committed to inclusion and diversity and to building a culture and environment where everyone is appreciated for the unique person they are. We warmly welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences, with the right skills for the role
