An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in an innovative established service working with Primary Care Mental Health nurses and G.P. practices across Lanarkshire.

Our client is looking to recruit Mental Health & Wellbeing Workers to deliver person centred individual support to people in contact with Primary Care Mental Health Nurses or G.P. practice teams who may be experiencing stressful social circumstances that are having a negative impact on their mental health and wellbeing.

You will support people to help them identify and achieve personal outcomes and priorities that they would like to address and link them to local and national resources and services as required.

Duties Include:

• To develop an initial rapport with people using structured conversations to enable and empower them to identify their priorities and goals
• Following initial discussion identify a range of options that could assist the person to improve their mental health and wellbeing
• Prepare and facilitate follow up appointments to support people to take an active role in the management of their mental health and wellbeing
• Following first meeting agree with people initial actions to be taken and follow these through in line with agreement throughout duration of support
• To assist people to be more aware of paper based and online self-management tools
• Active delivery of individual and group based psychoeducational courses, including Living Life to the Full interventions
• To assist people to be more aware of and encourage them to use community-based resources and pursue their interests and aspirations
• To signpost and/or directly assist people to obtain advice and information on issues of concern/interest to them
• To signpost and/or directly assist people to access services provided by relevant statutory or community based organisations.
• Participate in local community activities that promote positive mental health awareness and assist to challenge stigma and discrimination
• To maintain positive working relationship with other team members, including primary care mental health nurses, psychologists, G.P’S admin staff and relevant others.
• To work flexibly to meet the needs of people’s required support, including evening and weekend work when necessary.
• To complete standard paperwork/online forms following initial contact and follow up appointments
• At end of each shift ensure all relevant paperwork and online communications are completed, as well as ensuring confidential materials are securely stored
• To keep accurate and up-to-date written records of work in keeping with policies and procedures
• To gather record and collate data, including case studies/patient stories in a prescribed format for monitoring and evaluation purposes.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience of working with people in demanding situations would be desirable
• An understanding of mental health issues
• Good communication skills
• Builds rapport easily
• Able to work independently in a proactive manner
• Able to sustain contact with individuals to encourage and motivate them
• Confident in working closely with clinical staff, G.P.’s, practice staff and community agencies.
• Able to maintain accurate records
• Basic IT skills, working knowledge of office 365 desirable
• You must have a full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes

The Support Worker will provide a combination of personal care, care at home and housing support to people with dementia in their own homes. The post holder will be part of a dedicated team that will ensure that the highest quality of service is provided.

The Support Worker will work 2 or 3 shifts per week with the flexibility to increase hours to meet the demands of the service. The Support Worker will work day shift, backshift, weekends and nightshift.

We are looking for a unique person who can support people with dementia, living within their own home in a Supported Living Service, personalised to the tenants needs.

Our support workers are our most important people as they provide front line support.

Our support workers help tenants to maintain skills and independence by providing support and care with all aspects of daily living

Successful applicants will have a positive approach to dementia. You will also have good communication skills and a caring attitude. A willingness to learn and participate in training is essential. Relevant qualifications and/or experience of working with people with dementia is essential.

The Mental Health Foundation is recruiting for a Project Officer to support our exciting Art of Family Life project.

This exciting Project Officer role will coordinate the delivery of the ‘Art of Family Life’ project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. This role will take an innovative approach to bringing together heritage learning to positively impact on the wellbeing of people from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds living in Scotland. Key tasks of the role will include recruiting volunteers and sessional workers to support an oral history collection programme. This will be followed by a creative process to explore how the heritage of family life among families from refugee backgrounds can be curated and shared publicly.

What does the role involve?

• Promoting the programme to a wide range of audiences including with refugee led community organisations
• Coordinating with project partners and supporters including Oral History Centre at the University of Strathclyde, Common Ground at the Centre for Contemporary Arts and Glasgow Life and organising project events
• Recruiting and supporting sessional workers volunteers to promote and engage project activities
• Collect project impact data and support reporting to funder(s) on progress and finances
