We are at an exciting stage in our organisational development with a growing membership of youth groups and plans in place for significant growth in our support for youth work, youth groups and young people.

We have identified the need for a development worker role which will suit an experienced youth worker who is passionate about sharing their experience of working with young people with other youth workers and volunteers. If this is you, then come and join our youth work training team and help us to upskill youth workers and volunteers across Scotland.

The base for this post is Youth Scotland office in Edinburgh but with flexible working arrangements. We deliver using combination of face to face and digital delivery.

LAYC is recruiting a Project Worker to support the delivery of accredited learning and youth awards, with the network of community-based youth and children’s Member Groups within Edinburgh and the Lothians.

The post will be based at LAYC and will have a Lothian wide remit.

The post will be fixed for an initial period of 2 years at 18 hours per week on a salary scale of £26,788 - £30,751 pro rata, plus access to a 7% employers contribution pension.

Youth Vision is a children and young people's charity that provides a range of nature-based projects that aim to develop the skills and self-esteem necessary to support a healthy transition to adulthood. Our unique range of integrated services enable vulnerable young people to experience nature and personal growth in a safe and supported environment.

The Role:

Working alongside the Field Manager you will oversee all our various programmes and work in the office to support the running of the Charity.

You will have experience of project management and lead facilitation with vulnerable young people, staff, and volunteers in the outdoor environment. You will be involved in practical outdoor project delivery at Threipmuir Farm Steading and in the community. The role will also require good knowledge of relevant policies and procedures relating to working with vulnerable young people, communicating with clients and partner organisations, and updating social media.

Practical rural and horticulture skills would be an asset, as would previous experience of charity funding and grant applications.

You can have a mix of hybrid working from our office base in Balerno and from your home. As Balerno and our steading base are located rurally, you will need a full UK driving licence and access to a car.

To contribute to the delivery of LGBT+ services with young people across Midlothian. This involves supporting the development and co-facilitation of MYPAS run LGBT+ groups with young people.

This will include delivering:

• Accessible health and wellbeing focused group programmes with LGBT+ young people living or accommodated in Midlothian. The programmes will be young person led and aim to reduce social isolation, improve mental health, increase confidence, resilience and self-esteem

• A platform for LGBT+ young people in Midlothian, through a social action participation group, to be involved in and create local events and initiatives to promote inclusion within the wider LGBT+ community and the wider communities of Midlothian. Initiatives will include engagement with decision makers.

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with young people in a range of settings and has a good knowledge of the issues affecting LGBT+ young people.
