AWS Executive are working in partnership with Space to appoint their Head of Service (Enterprise and Learning) based The Broomhouse Hub in Edinburgh. This is a part time role 21 hours per week, over 3 days.

Job Purpose

• To be a key member of Space Management Team, providing leadership and building positive working relationships across the organisation, and externally.
• To develop and lead on Space Enterprise and Learning strategy, working collaboratively with the Board of Trustees and sub committees to deliver sound advice across all areas of responsibility, and contribute towards strategic decision making.
• To oversee the day to day operations across front line projects, bringing stability and resilience, enabling any growth and improvement that may be required in order to deliver on our strategic objectives, now and in the future.
• To drive income generation, building an understanding across the organisation of the need for successful commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery

• Set ambitious income targets for Enterprise and Learning services, identifying market gaps and trends, delivering sustainable commercial ventures which are both financially and environmentally sustainable.
• Contribute to the regular review of the needs within Space services, planning and delivering the implementation of any new business opportunities across the organisation.
• Working with the CEO and the wider Management Team to deliver the organisation wide strategy for Space.
• Contribute to the continual review and delivery of the organisation's Standard Operating Procedures, Risk Assessments and Risk Management Strategy.
• Ensure efficient reporting systems are in place for accurate data gathering to enable informed decision making.
• Ensure Enterprise and Learning services meet all statutory and regulatory requirements as a charity, company and service provider. Ensure that all data is kept and processed securely and in line with Data Protection Act and GDPR.
• Engage with the communications team to raise awareness and raise the profile of our work by sharing positive, impactful stories.
• Support the effective governance of Space by engaging fully with all relevant governance bodies and processes.
• Ensure Space is appropriately represented across all relevant networks, partnerships and collaborations.

Leadership and people management

• Provide line management to Enterprise and Learning managers in accordance with Space values and people policies, ensuring all direct reports and their teams have the support, information, skills and learning opportunities to be highly effective in their roles.
• Hold regular individual 1:1 meetings with line reports and provide coaching, mentorship and performance management.
• Provide direction and strategic support to line reports on Enterprise and Learning annual planning processes including service work plans and budget control.
• Be a role model to all staff across the organisation and provide leadership support to other members of management.
• Encourage all staff to engage and contribute constructively to matters across the organisation.
• Comply with organisational HR policies and employment law.
• Continually monitor and assess the effectiveness and efficiency of Enterprise and Learning services, identify opportunities for growth and development, writing the business cases for any adjustments and managing the change process.

Finance and Fundraising

• Be financially accountable for all Enterprise and Learning services, ensuring Project Managers have distinct budgets, and understand their responsibilities and targets.
• Work with the fundraising team to research potential new income streams, ensuring funding is in place for all areas of responsibility
• Keep abreast of sector knowledge and standards in order to inform practical funding bid submissions.
• Nurture relationships with existing funders, ensure all agreed conditions are met and data requested is provided.

We are seeking an inspiring and dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organisation. As the CEO you will be overall accountable for the vision and delivery of exceptional standards of critical services to the local community in Wester Hailes as well as the best possible employee experience for all working at The Health Agency.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a community empowerment strategic plan in partnership with the Board that aligns with our mission. Lead the organisation in identifying opportunities as well as adapting to emerging needs and policy changes.
• Operational Management: Oversee the daily operations of the organisation, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with safeguarding and all regulatory standards. Manage budgets, resources, and employees to deliver exceptional services.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Develop projects and meaningful cross-sectoral inclusive partnerships with community members. Maintain positive relationships with other key stakeholders, including session providers, funders, local authorities, other third sector and private organisations. Act as the primary spokesperson for the organisation.
• Fundraising and Financial Management: Lead fundraising initiatives, secure sustainable funding streams, grants and manage financial resources to ensure the organisation's stability and growth.
• Team Leadership: Inspire, mentor, and manage a dedicated team of professionals, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Promote professional development and ensure employee well-being.
• Governance: Work closely with the Board to ensure effective and collaborative decision making, governance and transparency. Report on organisational performance, risks, and opportunities.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the third sector or a related field.
• A solid understanding of the challenges faced by people living in areas of multiple deprivation
• Evidence of delivering positive and impactful mental and physical health improvements in partnership with the local community.
• Excellent strategic thinking, with the ability to translate detailed data analysis, knowledge and vision into actionable plans.
• Financial acumen and experience in managing budgets and securing funding.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence e a wide range of stakeholders.
• Experience in leading and developing teams, with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in the third sector.
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including excel and digital media channels

Scottish Women’s Aid has an exciting opportunity to Head up their policy team. This is an influential and dynamic position, where the role holder will be responsible for leading on a diverse range of policy areas and levers for change to end domestic abuse and violence against women and girls in Scotland. They will be a key member of the Senior leadership team and will support and manage a team of policy officers, identify, shape an develop policy priorities, and SWA’s campaigning an advocacy work in line with our strategic objectives. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Head of Policy shares responsibility for the leadership of the organisation and the management of people, services and resources. They will also work closely with the Membership, Training and Communications teams.

Background

Scottish Women’s Aid is the lead organisation in Scotland working to end domestic abuse. We are both a children's rights and a women's rights organisation.

• We directly campaign to institutions and leaders for policies and laws that address the drivers of women’s inequality and improve responses to domestic abuse. This work makes women and children safer and helps them disentangle themselves from their abusers.
• We provide training to public and private bodies from the police and judiciary to child welfare systems, to effectively respond to survivors.
• We raise the profile of domestic abuse nationally and internationally so that domestic abuse is treated like the critical threat to human rights that it is.
• We host Scotland’s 24-Hour Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage Helpline to ensure help is always available while actively supporting a network of 33 specialist local Women’s Aid services that directly support and provide refuge to women and children of Scotland affected by domestic abuse
• We are the umbrella organisation for 33 autonomous Women’s Aid groups delivering direct services to women, children and young people across Scotland.

What you’ll do

Working with the Chief Executive, Policy and other teams within SWA, you will develop and implement strategies to achieve key objectives on policy social change. You will provide leadership and line management to the Policy Team to ensure that SWA achieves its strategic objectives. You will collaborate on and direct work including but not limited to; analysis and challenge of government and public policy reports, development of consultation responses, parliamentary briefings, and policy and advocacy materials for a range of audiences. You will build strong relationships and work collaboratively with government officials, other organisations and charities to influence and promote SWA policy and objectives, representing SWA well to target audiences, including government and Parliamentary liaison where you will speak at public events, committees and give evidence.

What We Need

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Experience in a similar role, with strong leadership skills working across a range of complex issues to develop and deliver effective policy and strategy.
• Awareness and understanding of the feminist analysis of domestic abuse and the impact on women, children and young people
• Knowledge and understanding of the UK and Scottish policy and legislative context in relation to violence against women and children and domestic abuse in Scotland, and the environment in which SWA operates, including the opportunities and risks it faces.
• Experience of leading, supporting and managing teams and of providing line management of staff, including the supervision and quality assurance of policy work.
• Excellent written skills, demonstrable track record of leading research, analysis and development of government public policy reports, consultation responses, briefings and advocacy materials
• Communications experience, you’ll be skilled in the ability to engage confidently with a range of different audiences, building maintaining alliances with key stakeholders and speaking with government minsters, MP’s/MSP’s, to committees and at events.
