Role

Role

The Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation (DSM Foundation) is a leading drug education charity, founded in 2014 in response to the death of 16-year-old Dan having taken MDMA. The charity aims to support young people to make safe choices and reduce harm, through increasing their understanding of the effects and risks of drugs and alcohol, and improving their life skills & resilience.

We have a well-established, multi-component programme of evidence-based drug education for young people, parents, carers and professionals, delivered in schools, colleges and community settings across the UK. This exciting and rewarding new role will be at the heart of an important government-funded pilot of our drug education programme in Scottish schools.

Our drug education co-ordinator will co-ordinate the delivery and evaluation of the pilot in nine schools across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray, working closely with our dynamic and supportive London-based team. They will also deliver workshops to young people, training for teachers and other professionals, and online drugs awareness sessions to parents, and they will liaise with the University of Aberdeen on the evaluation of the programme.

Suitable candidates will be passionate about supporting young people to make safer choices about drugs and alcohol; have experience working with young people and delivering drug education; have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; be organised, punctual and reliable; be able to travel to schools across the Grampian region.
